I live in New Zealand and as a gamer, being away from most other places in the world, it comes with its positives and negatives.

My channel focuses on the discussion and entertainment within Video Games such as GTA 5, GTA 5 Online / Grand Theft Auto V and COD / Call of Duty. Common video topics within these games will be speculation / my predictions about upcoming video game releases, discussing news about upcoming games or already released video games, and entertainment-type videos about these games (lets-plays, online with friends etc). I will also talk about console news especially the Xbox consoles as that's the console I primarily play on. I will be covering news, especially on upcoming games like GTA 6 / Grand Theft Auto VI and COD Black Ops 2024 / Call of Duty Gulf War.

  • "Where are you from?" "New Zealand." "Wow, your English is pretty good." "Chur, cuz."
  • I remember I was dogfighting this guy on GTA, I asked him "why TF you so laggy" and he said "sorry m8, from Australia

as a new zealander, I can confirm that the ping is 200+ playing anywhere except for oceania servers.

For a country of 5 million people, New Zealand is actually pretty big. It's only a bit larger than the UK, but the number of people in the UK is also 12x the population of New Zealand.
  • I met a guy on the Gears of War 3 MP beta. Turned out he lived 5 minutes away, walking. He’s one of my best friends to this day.
  • The New Zealand Paradox - hours into the future, years into the past.
  • Hey mate, Kiwi here. I still remember playing Halo 2 on garbage internet back in the day. While my homies laughed at their higher US ping. Glad to see YT pushing more NZ creators towards Kiwis :)

Aussie here, our average internet speed is literally 3x worse than New Zealand. It's funny how Australia invented wifi but our internet speeds suck ass and cost an arm and a leg to get fast internet speeds. Edit: also we are by far the slowest out of the first world countries it ain't even close

Having to deal with Aussies over voice comms, since we share servers with them, is also a painful experience haha.

I'm from iran and here having a stable internet connection for online games is like an unreachable dream for us. Almost all of the games are inaccessible and they need vpn or changing dns to get in and even if you can access them, the experience is slow and sloppy.

Proud Kiwi gamer moment: I was standing in line for the GTA IV launch where we got to play it first before the rest of the world.
  • @Bounccy
As someone in feilding it feels weird as hell knowing you're only like a 20 minute bus ride away

The harsh reality of gaming in Australia: We have to risk playing with kiwis

it's kinda wild hearing a NZ online experience as an american lmao the odds of finding someone within even a 4-5 hour driving distance is rare unless you're from like california, new york, or florida lmao

Rural New Zealander here. As much as I love to play online games, I run on a data cap, meaning my internet will straight up stop when it reaches that cap, it doesn't throttle. This forces me to play singleplayer games, and by the time I want to play an online game, theres usually an update available, and by the time I download it, I already wasted time trying to play online only to be stopped by this inconvient barrier. Even if I do play online, like you mentioned, the ping is terrible. Either I play in a US server with 200+ ping or I play on a NZ server with no players. I simply cannot play competetively and I'm not willing to move into another country just to get the best ping. Oh yeah, the data cap I mentioned earlier makes it impossible to fully download AAA games in one evening. I usually have to take my device to someone elses place just to download games, forcing me to resort to Indie games or older games because they contain far less gigabytes to download. Either that or I attempt to download games 2 GB/day just to avoid reaching my internet data cap. This is exactly the reason why I avoid digital downloads and usually stick to physical media, but even then, video games are pricey in New Zealand. Despite my personal struggles, I was able to enjoy video games as a hobby, as I adapted to these limitations and my preferred genre was singleplayer or indie games.
  • Am from Indonesia and had a mate from NZ when I was playing GTAO. My other friends are from Europe. We were doing Apartment and Doomsday Elite challenge, it's insane how we manage the time difference for the whole crew to play together. Lots of discord chats. But we did it eventually. One of my best experience in playing online.
  • I was playing Mount and Blade: Warband Napoleonic Wars and met my best friend in Teamspeak 3. He said " does somebody want to learn the German Medival Bagpipe? " I've always wanted to learn the bagpipe. We found out that we only lived 3 - 4 hours away from each other. When my bagpipes were finished, he drove to the bagpipe maker and then drove to me and gave it to me. It was my best birthday ever ^^ And now we are friends for 5 years ;D

This was extremely evident in Forza Horizon 3 a couple years back. The game is set in Australia, so obviously a lot of Kiwis and Aussies played it

I like that when you showed your average internet speed as if NZ has it bad. My brother in Christ, the average in my country is literally 5 Mbps.
