Relations between different subspecies are illegal among Goners. Different subspecies (usually about as different to the base species as we are from homo erectus) are created in the first place through genetic modification to fulfill particular purposes or live on particular worlds (a purpose in of itself) and so mixed-subspecies are viewed as being purposeless / placeless in a society that places a lot of value on you being born into a particular role. Or at least that's the "justification" given.
