Short Version of Video:    • Best Ant Killer for Driveway

I've always had problems with ant hills in the cracks of my driveway. In the past i would spray them with commercial ant killer. It worked ok, but the ants usually came back within a week - and the spray cost around $20.
With this new method - liquid dish soap and boiling/hot water - it works better, cost a lot less, safe for kids and pets, and can be easily sprayed multiple times. Plus i'm spraying down a lot more volume of liquid to help get in deep and hopefully kill the queen.

Borax with sugar water or honey in an old foil pie plate with a cover and a few access holes. We had a big ant problem and laid a few of those around the yard and haven't seen ants anywhere for a year

I like you being honest that it only works 50/50. That's the kind of success rate what I would expect. Also, I don't get the boiling water though. By the time the boiling water get into your tank, mixed with dish soap and sprayed and soaked underground, it would have cooled off significantly. I don't think it is hot enough to kill ants a feet down.

Just watched your whole-house water filter 4-year update video then watched this one. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your knowledge. I hit that like on both videos and that sub button. =)

I purchased a wooden shed for my backyard and went out there today to build shelves inside. I noticed ants all along the bottom sill on one side. I’ll spray this solution along the outside, and then maybe add some spray foam to (hopefully) keep them out.

Probably works great, but after that, use a pressure washer, clean out cracks, and use a sealer, asphalt/concrete appropriate.

Gas...works ! If out in open after soaking for a while, then lit'er up ! Makes a nice whump de thumpie ! No kids were hurt..... 100% effective ! Also works great on yellow jacket nest in ground.....after dark !

If you do the same opération in the grass, will it kill the grass too?

Those are some nasty cracks!!! I would also try a driveway sealer to fill up the large holes... Javel also works well... kills the ants for good and they don't return!

Giving this a go tomorrow. If it works I’ll definitely be subscribing. Be back in a few days!
  • Will it kill carpenter ants ? I get them in the basement occasionally and I'm sealing up the eaves !

Seems to me this video should be: add water, add soap, spray the ants ... THEN REPAIR THE CRACK. Especially since you did a 1-month time lapse. I like the "after a day/ after a week" idea, but after 4 weeks... the crack should have been repaired.
