Hey everyone! In today's video I talk about a FNAF theory revolving around the FNAF Security Breach Ruin DLC and the newest story GGY from the newest TFTPP FNAF Book. This video was a blast to make, I've never been more confident about a theory. I hope you enjoy :)

This is actually my favorite theory so far. It makes total sense, doesn’t overcomplicate things, and doesn’t suggest that everything we know about the entire series is going to change. Absolutely loving this next generation of theorists!

Counter-Theory: Gregory is freed from Glitchtrap's control just before the start of the game. Remember the Arcade Conspiracy notes about the employee who became obsessed with the glitched/haunted arcades and started playing them in the hopes of finding out what they were hiding? Just as Gregory frees Vanessa by playing the correct arcade games in the right order, I believe that this employee unwittingly freed Gregory by playing a correct sequence of these arcade games. This would explain why Vanny, the hacked animatronics, and Burntrap are after him in the game despite having all been on the same side during the events of GGY and the therapy tapes.

The idea that Gregory was possessed by William suddenly makes a whole lot of sense when you draw the parallel between him dismantling the glamrocks and William dismantling the original animatronics

I had Gregory pegged as patient 46 from the start, but I never considered the possibility of him being possessed by Glitchtrap. This theory is pretty strong.

“Well now that the story is out and I’ve had a chance to read it I am in mental anguish.” This sums up my feelings every time I read a new FNAF book
  • @garlicgoat259
Regarding the books, i wholeheartedly agree with you: you shouldn't need to read a series of what now are 15+ books to find something that not only is part of the canon story, but is quite literally a piece of info you NEED to solve the story.

It’s so cool to see John growing as a content creator and theorist. Some of his earlier theories were super interesting, but didn’t have the best narrative thread. This video flows really well, and is SO compelling! MatPats tutelage shines through! Good Job John!
  • @zekrom916
cant wait for MatPat to turn this into a 2 part video with each part being 2 hours each
  • Honestly, I genuinely wonder whether the near lack (not total lack, MatPat called it pretty darn quickly using what was there, but there's not much) of evidence for this is because Steel Wool wasn't told beforehand. We know Scott plays things very close to the chest, and in an interview they did mention he gave them stuff to put in that they didn't understand. Plus there's the gender of the translations for the CDs: if it were translators all picking one on their own you'd expect a mix, but instead it's (as I understand it) universal that Patient 46 is referred to with feminine pronouns, which sounds to me like they did ask the devs for clarification and Steel Wool had the wrong answer.

Reasonable, logical, relatively simplistic yet well fitting theory. On top of that, it's well presented, in a very engaging and understandable way. Your knowledge and expertise in both theorycrafting and presenting grow super fast with each video released, and I'm happy this fanbase finally has another youtuber who makes top notch quality content. Perfectly done!
  • There’s something you’re forgetting. In terms of how Gregory became a Glitchtrap puppet, remember the file where it says “Have you selected one?” “I have” they’re selecting people to join this cult. Maybe the balloon minigame has soemthint to do with it too idk, but I feel that piece of evidence is needed to be remembered cuz that means Gregory was picked to be one of them than Gregory being curious
  • With out a doubt the best theory you made so far. I know its a theory, but I am truly convinced this could be who Gregory is, and how he is patient 46 . Keep it going John. Thank you for posting another one of your wonderful videos. Have a nice day!
  • @dizelraf
Not to mention, how in Balloon World mini game files there is a line: “Come meet my friends. He made me do it”. Gregory also said to Tony to meet some people, which is exactly what is said in Ballon World files
  • @sinnthehuman
If Scott truly is just remaining silent rn because no one has gotten the lore right in too long, this video may be the one to draw him out of hiding. Great work on this!
  • @LimeSprite
Totally digging this theory! Great job! Now Afton’s line of “You will do as I say, you will bring me what I want. And if you fail me, then you will both of you burn” now takes on a whole new meaning and is equally creepy.
  • OK BUT NOW EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE!! I mean, it explains Gregory’s origins (he had a happy life before security breach but was possessed and given false memories, that’s why he told the therapist that he had bad parents), it explains how the HECK he got in the Pizzaplex, gives us an idea of why he was in Freddy’s stomach hatch (he probably ran there after gaining control again), AND basically everything else regarding Gregory!!! The fact he actually has a background now also makes the “Gregory is a robot” theory a bit less possible, but I’m not so sure. The only question now is… what happens after Security Breach? Does he find his parents eventually? Or are his parents dead, considering the therapist used past tense when referring to them (“you had great parents”). Which ending is canon? Does he start a new life along with Vanessa and Freddy, creating that “odd family unit”? Or does he just roam the countryside with Freddy? Does he canonically die?? What if he made it out without Freddy? Is he now just a lost kid who’s life was ruined (yooo) because of Glitchtrap?
  • @tuxxler
You, ryetoast and matpat should all do a single fnaf theorist live stream.
  • @GYPSYWASHERE
being a FNAF veteran is mostly a blessing... but sometimes a curse... like waiting 7 years to make an email make sense, love u John. thank you for making these amazing videos!
  • I wouldn’t be surprised if Gregory while under Glitchtrap’s control was actually staying down where the second Balloon World game is found. The bedding next to it is covered in stars and just makes me think of how Freddy calls him Superstar, but that might be a stretch ⭐️ ✨ This video has me wondering if Ruin is indeed a sequel, or actually prequel to Security Breach if the girl managed to free Gregory from the Balloon arcade machine, and that’s why he doesn’t work in the main game. Gregory’s consciousness was freed by that point.
