This scanner mounted on a rotating arm + a decent 3D Printer and you can basically open a small business going around anime conventions, to offer custom miniatures of the cosplayers. You could even print them in bulk at a discount for their own merch booth.

Really love the space marine version of YOU especially the bronzing.

The use of the Joytoy version is actually pretty interesting. Currently the 'at home' scanners don't have enough definition to really pick up 28mm/32mm very well...but scanning the Joytoy figure and then scaling it down because the scanner is more likely to pick up all the details and have them be smoother...that's pretty ingenious way of doing it, especially for things like terrain so you can have big statures and the like.

Interesting review. I'll wait a while until this tech drops to the 250 to 500 GBP price range.

I have too much hobby and not enough hobby space. Maybe I'll see if work will buy one for our makerspace. I'm still trying to get them to buy a plasma cutter so I can make swords. :)

Yh know the feeling when it comes to laptops, things moved fast I'm still running a win 8 and a ThinkPad on win 10 , slicing big files take time

Technically, the official GW policy on 3D printed models only prohibits "commercially available, third party 3D printed parts" and explicitly allows "designing and printing your own bespoke parts" for use in official events. I wonder if this counts? Please bring an army of mini mes to Warhammer World and let us know what they say!
  • It is only illegal to sell copies of gw products , not to make them for your personal use.

This is very cool. I wonder how many people have scanned their wangs.
