This is not YG-related. YG failed to secure the re-signing of the exclusive contract when the old contract expired some months ago, and only managed to sign a group contract. So Blackpink releases are still under YG, but the girls are free to do anything else they want, unlike before, where it is pretty much a public secret that they were heavily controlled as to what they can do. Jennie was the first of the members to create her own company, Odd Atelier, to manage her own non-Blackpink activities, and she seems to be living the time of her life, showing up on variety shows that YG barely allowed them the last many years, doing collabs, and just smiling again. There is a bar in this very song that seems to be mistranslated in the lyrics. There is no "quirky side"; it's more like Zico telling Jennie "bring out your crazy skills that were hidden away / you who are free now hands in the... air". If she was still under YG's thumb, you can be sure this collab would not have happened.

Jennie can do different flows of rap effortlessly, whether it’s slow or fast raps, she never sound the same. Main rapper indeed, the versatility 🔥

Zico is probably the best kpop rapper of all time, he didn't really rapped much in this release but that's how good he is. He is also very respected in the k hip hop scenario too, probably my favorite solo artist
