  • I’m surprised the hospital didn’t teach you how to put it back in, most caregivers are taught before the child leaves the hospital.
  • I thought they teach parents how to put those back in at home and supply you with an extra one to replace it?
  • Good that you had someone coming over to do the G-tube. But why doesnt the nurses in hospital teach you how to do this? :-) Just wondering, because where i work we do this ourselves. Nurse has learned us how to do it.
  • What an unselfish act of kindness of Auntie Kate to make the sacrifice to meet you on Christmas Day! 🎉❤
  • @heykatehughes
love you so glad i could help out the cutest boy ever!!!
  • You guys should be showed how to do that because it's not that big a deal I mean I went through tube feedings with my husband and I had to do all that on a daily basis. You know hooking him up to his feed everyday because he couldn't eat so he had a hole in his stomach.
  • @mamabear7243
I always kept a backup g-tube on hand. They are easy to replace.
  • Our niece pulled out son's G tube out on Christmas Day! We went to the hospital and 3 hours later it was already healing closed. They couldn't put it back in! Luckily it was at the end of his illness so we didn't need it anymore so that was the very end of our G tube journey💙
  • @lisatague305
Maybe Kate could show you how to replace the g tube. It’s easy to do .
  • Hey Rachel... tubie mama here. Keep a slip tip syringe with you and when it falls out you just suck the water out, stick it back in, put the water back in and it's no big deal. Keep an extra gtube with you in your bags in case the balloon pops. Also you could keep medical tape with you. If the balloon pops you can put the gtube back in to hold the stoma open and use the tape to hold the gtube in taping in a square around the gtube until you can get another one. This way you can avoid the inconvenience of having to rush home, get Kate to come over or going to an er. The biggest fear for me is having to get the stoma dilated. If it's out too long you know it can close and have to be dilated which is painful. I know some parents have a hard time doing these things on their own as it's not their cup of tea but honestly it's no big deal. My little guy went through 6 gtubes in the past 3 months. He keeps popping them somehow.
  • It truly shocks me that in the US they don’t teach parents to put the tube in at home. I feel like there would be so much less stress and panic if they taught it. I’m in Canada and we weren’t allowed to leave the hospital without the training for it. We live in a small town so we actually know way more about the tube than any of the local medical professionals do, our doctor wouldn’t even know how to deal with it without instruction. We have an emergency tube kit we are supposed to take wherever he goes so that if the tube comes out we always have a replacement on hand before it starts to close up. Props to you for knowing exactly who you can contact to help you out with it though. Definitely saves an unnecessary hospital trip!
  • That looks like a mini one. I’m not sure if you know but if it’s less then 30 days and it falls out or has a leak, if you save it and call the company they’ll replace it for you
  • @slongv1547
Are you not trained in replacement of his button would of thought had to be compulsory if had one.
  • @lanam6301
Thank goodness for Auntie Kate🎉🎉. Also Rachel your new cell phone quality is noticeably awesome. 6:23
  • @BryannaNicole
Always should have an emergency kit in the car! That’s what we do!
  • I am so thankful I haven’t had to change my sons tube yet
  • Happy new year all. Is Beckham able to have the shield that goes around his g tube to help with the redness
  • What a nice thing for Kate to do on Christmas. I'm glad Kate was able to help. Loving all of the vlogs lately.
