Greater Anglia Class 360 - A Retrospective

Published 2021-03-27
Greater Anglia Class 360 units have been transferred to East Midlands Railway after over 15 years of operation. First Great Eastern first introduced the fleet of Desiros in the summer of 2003. Here's a brief retrospective on the rolling stock and its history.

1. Siemens Mobility manufactured the rolling stock, with the /1 units constructed between 2002 and 2003 in Germany.
2. In the summer of 2003, First Great Eastern introduced the first unit into passenger service.
3. Each set had 4 cars featuring standard class throughout the train and a first-class compartment at either cab end.
4. Greater Anglia is replacing the Class 360/1 Desiros with their new Class 720 Aventras.
5. The fleet has been transferred in whole to East Midlands Railway. From May 2021, theyโ€™ll be used between London St Pancras and Corby under the โ€˜EMR Electricsโ€™ name.

I've recently upgraded my website - come check it out at tothetrains.uk/! I'll be publishing longer, written content such as blog posts and the latest news in the industry to accompany the videos I publish on this channel. For example, you can read about Greater Anglia's Class 360/1s here, too: tothetrains.uk/greater-anglia-class-360/

Very Nice Video ToTheTrains, I was very fond of the GA Class 360s, but have wondered why they were painted blue not white. Very Glad they get a new lease of life on EMR Electrics services, as they have been upgraded for 110mph operations. I think these units will look great in the EMR Purple, and I am excited for the new 2+2 interior EMR are going to offer over the next few years, which will probably have USB ports or Plug Sockets.

It's Good That The Class 360s Have Got More Use Over At EMR After They Were Replaced By Class 720s On Greater Anglia And Also I Would Send The Class 379s Over To Great Northern To Replace The Class 387s As Soon As Greater Anglia Realised Them After The Arrival of The Class 720s ๐Ÿ‘

The class 360 accelerates from 0-60 mph in 45 seconds that's lightning quick for a train

Epic vid, theyโ€™ll get a warm welcome in the midlands (idk where Iโ€™m going with the comment tbh and Iโ€™ll just end it here as idk what to say)
  • Shame really that they're going, they were my favourite trains although they're entering service with EMR it's still a shame as I live nowhere near where they will be operating and will probably only ever go on them a few times
  • @ArthurTK26
Well the purple will mean itโ€™s easier for emr to transfer them
