"Saw is in the Family" is about a working-class White American family living in Newt, Texas. Its patriarch is Drayton Sawyer, also known as the Cook, an honest, affectionate man, who doesn't find any pleasure in his job, yet still does it diligently to provide for his family. Drayton's sons, Nubbins and Bubba, often quarrel and get in trouble, but try to help each other selflessly.

Intro music to the "Saw is in the Family" is a popular song called "Waterloo", which was performed by the Swedish pop group ABBA and came out the same year.
