I think the bread really propelled Dollar Tree forward. That bothers me though, because Aldi sells so many different kinds of bread and they just happened to pick the worst one.
  • @ghillies4life
The reason Aldi's mustard isn't as yellow is that they have a company-wide policy that Aldi brand ingredients never use artificial color.
  • @cayleelovesjb
Aldi has better breads than the one that was chosen.
  • @irishted13
Aldi’s Artisanal bread would have been a better comparative

Everything Josh described about shopping at Aldi is just... every grocery store here in Germany. No bags, deposit on the carts, people sitting at the register.
  • I like that Aldi has a white bread that is on par with the Sara Lee that isn’t very expensive (like $2.35 in my area) and they didn’t get it. I do feel like when Dollar Tree has a fancy version of something they should be able to match it at the other store, especially when it is still store brand and not much more.

    "What's German for mustard?"
the tiny Shane Madej that lives in the back of my head: SENF!
  • @kaykolesnyk9289
Those three Aldi fries left in the bowl bothered me so much

    "This bread is very wet."
"Thank you, I tried my best." 🤣🤣

The fact that Josh had a moral debate about if a patty melt is a sandwich or a burger, as if a burger isn't also just a sandwich while also being the forerunner for the hot dog sandwich argument is why I love him
  • Is it just me or was Josh like super chilled and more hinged as opposed to normally being unhinged. Lol. Loved it tho. And I do have family
  • we have Aldi in Poland and you do not "pay" for the carts, you just put a coin in to make sure you wont leave it somewhere away from where u got it from XD it s a common practice.
  • Wow, Aldi being the expensive is wild to me since DISCOUNT is part of the name 🤣🤣 and here in Denmark it was also the absolutely cheapest of the cheap for groceries
  • @kmagryffindor3
I gotta say, you gotta go with the Aldhi Artisanal White when toasting. Their standard white bread is 100% designed to memic that sweet, sweet Wonderbread cakeyness lol

As someone who used to work in retail, I wanna say THANK YOU for mentioning that cashiers should be allowed to sit down! I literally had to quit my job because my ankles were excruciatingly sore (while I am in the process of losing weight, I still am overweight) yet I still wasn’t allowed to sit at all (unless I had a doctor’s note which I couldn’t even get because he was an old fart who thought it would be “healthy for me”).

Also, the fact that everyone else was quitting the job too, so I had to work MORE (while STILL not being allowed to sit)… but I digress.
  • You bought my engagement with "ethically opposed to crinkle cut." This man is speaking the actual truth.
  • @workaholica
I infrequently shop at ALDI in Germany, and I can safely confirm I don't recognize any of the products presented here.
Also, mustard in German is SENF ;)
  • @KevinCruz-pu2ue
I've had that bread and it is not the typical Dollar Tree bread. You must have found a store with that landed a limited supply because the typical Dollar Tree bread is about half a loaf of the same crap bread you bought at Aldi. Also, Aldi has cheaper beef patties by the pound than those boxed ones, so if you don't think beef quality matters (which if you prefer your beef patties to not be 100% beef, you clearly don't), then you should've gotten those. It kind of feels like you might've inadvertently stacked the deck for Dollar Tree here by buying all the smaller quantity name brand options when they also carry generic mustard and ketchup that have larger quantities; you certainly didn't do well with the presentation by buying that really expensive beef that wonked out the pricing. Dollar-for-dollar, your money goes a little bit further at Aldi than it does at Dollar Tree if you're buying full equivalents.
  • @rebann
"Why two patties instead of just one?"

    "Yes!"

This is why Josh is my spirit animal
