Deana's Story

Moving Out & Moving Forward!

Our former guest, Deana has found permanent housing with Homes For Good! After a long road back and forth between the mission over the past few years, she has found the Hope needed to obtain a new job at the Jesco Club down the road which is a social club for recovering alcoholics/addicts and their families. The club rents space to various 12 step meetings to provide access to recovery for anyone in the community who seeks it.

Deana was part of the board at Jesco but has since moved into a caretaker position to help prepare the area for re-open. She is extremely devoted and working very hard on herself and progressing in this journey. Attending 3-4 meetings a day, five to six days a week, Deana has been determined to continue her success. She said, "My son is going through a hard time and has seen my transformation, which he explained that she is a great example of overcoming hardship. He is proud of her and all the patience & determination to make it through. It has helped him successfully battle his own struggles."

After multiple surgeries and a pandemic, she is recovering and thriving! Deana stated, "It is bittersweet to be leaving, but I'm excited to move forward! Everyone here is a family. Don't hesitate if you are thinking about staying at the Eugene Mission. It will take some time to get used to, but there are amazing programs and people who care, love, and support you every step of the way."

God is good. Best of luck Deana!

We are not a homeless shelter in the traditional sense. While we certainly provide our guests with food and shelter – and do so with an abundance of God’s love – the Eugene Mission’s ultimate goal is to provide holistic long-term solutions that lead to the long term wellness of our guests in Eugene/Springfield.
