BELMONT TRINIDAD and Tobago Caribbean Real Estate Road Trip JBManCave.com

Published 2023-12-24
Belmont is primarily a residential area in the capital city, Port of Spain, on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Belmont is known to have some of the narrowest streets in the country with unchanged houses that sit almost on the edge of each road's borders. In this video, I explore most of the major streets while commenting on Belmont today versus the past. Are you familiar with Belmont? Perhaps you once lived in Belmont or have relatives there. If so, please watch the whole video and give your comments about Belmont, Trinidad.

  • I was Born and grew Chinatown Belmont. I was really happy to see the route I walked from on top that hill all the way down to St Margaret's boys Anglican school. I left that school almost 48 years ago. The last time I walked that route you just drove was 48 years ago. Thank you for showing me my old home. It hasn't changed much

Wow, I am so happy you did a video in my hometown. I presently live in Belmont on Bella Eau Road. In the video at I think it is 30:10 that school Belmont boys R.C. A girls' school by the name St. Martinโ€™s Girls R.C. Secondary used to be there. I used to attend there. My class was the last to graduate from there in 2013. It was 50 years old and was run by Sis Luke, who at the time was in her early 90s. She resigned when I was in form 1, and Sis Mary took off. I love my hometown, but crime is too high. It was very peaceful when I was a little girl. I wish it could go back to how it was.

Very informative and detailed trip through Belmont. I lived in Belmont for my entire childhood. Still visit a family home at St Francois Valley Road regularly. If my memory servs me right I believe there was no planning in the settling of Belmont. Upon the emancipation of slavery, the slaves who worked on the sugar estate that is now the Savannah simply settled east of the Estate in where is now Belmont. As time went by the tracks winding through the houses were paved.

Thank you for your memories of this historkcal and preserved community. I lived on Erthig road opposite the theatre. Played for Heineken pan vibes formerly Texaco Dixeland. You're absolutely right about the streets. Very narrow. 75 - 79

46:27 my mother grew up on the property on your left, right before the parked car. I've never seen the land but have heard the stories. Still in the family. Thankyou for the glimpse and making any visions i had in my head from the stories she has told me, come to life!

Man you brought back some deep memories. When you turned onto Gonzales Hill, all those homes on the rock walls, my grandfather built and my family owned for decades. I lived in the 2 white houses as you turned on to Gonzales Hill myself. Numbers 26 and 24, from 1973 to 1989 when I migrated. My dad is still alive. He was born in the corner White House in 1945. My grandfather had 17 kids. Only 2 are alive today. Thank you. โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

As I mention before left age 10, in 1960, for UK, never revisited. Looking and listen to the guided tour video of places, I reminisced, A lot of named places mention was remembered. I visualised myself back then when as a child walking areas name mention. The roads as you said was narrow then in 1960, still is as you describe. ๐Ÿ˜‚The long steps shown brought back thoughts I did have, before starting to climb the steps, I would look from bottom to top, before starting the l8ng climb ๐Ÿ˜‚. There's great structural transformations, just names of places for my memory of where I once walk. I deeply appreciate you videos.

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Industry Lane, Mike's Taxi, Auntie Kay etc etc People die, Memories don't Thanks sooo much
  • Miss the old days when trinidad was a lawful country and only the police and the wealthy had guns in their possession. this belmont used to be a fun town, with great house parties talented people, now today you have to watch where you traverse in this town, since you could lose your life easy in these places for absolutely no reason. so sad.
  • Merry Christmas! I lived near the park on Norfolk St and Belmont Circular, and attended Providence Girls'. So many great memories growing up there.
