Wow .... I grew up in the late 90s..... BUT since I lived with my grandparents guys like RICKLES N NEWHART was the people I grew up with. I thank my grandparents everyday for introducing me to this era and legendary people like them!

The Newhart show at the very end I love it when it’s a dream sequence… And he wakes up next to Suzanne Pleshette

I've never seen Don Rickles so quiet and respectful you can tell he really loves his friend Bob and respects him by giving him time to speak.

Don Rickles son dies 21 years later at age forty. He spoke of how it devastated him in an interview with Dan Rather. If you, out there, can find a rebroadcast of The Big Interview With Dan Rather, it is well worth watching. I found that it showed the humble, sensitive side of Mr. Rickles. Rip, Mr Warmth.

I miss the shows of the 70s .Bob Newhart , Mary Tyler Moore , Mash etc. Decent funny shows .
  • All three : intelligent, respectful, loyal and above all, gentlemen.
  • I love how everyone in the audience is dressed up, the men are in button downs or shirts and ties and the women are in skirts and dresses. Being an audience member of a daytime show was a special event.

Bob Newhart was my Dad’s favorite comedian. From his albums to his tv shows. He became my favorite as well

Watching Bob on his appearance on NCIS is just like watching him here. One of my dad's favorite comedians.
  • Thank you for posting this!:)❤...its so much fun/inspiring hearing these two talk about their lives!...the thing i love to hear, as a woman, is what dedicated family men they both were, and are! :)

Bob's rendition of "Hey, Look Me Over" demonstrates his mastery of playing the Everyman.

These three were always a favorite of mine. Don Rickles, Bob Newhart and Phil Donahue.

Don Rickles, despite his insult comedy approach, was actually one of the sweetest guys you could ever meet. A true sweetheart of a man, loyal, honest, and truly kind. I know this first-hand. A great guy. Also, Bob Newhart is complete class. True gentlemen.

That Newhart and Rickles were good friends adds so much to this appearance; I can't recall seeing two comedians interact as successfully in an interview setting as these two here (no one hogs, no one brags, both are personable...and funny!). This clip shows the "sweet" side of each of these intelligent performers.

At 18:58, the lady asks about Suzanne Pleshette and I realize that at this point, the "Newhart" show had yet to do the greatest series-ending blow-off of all time - where Bob wakes up in the middle of the night with his former TV wife from a previous TV show. I was watching his face to see if there was any giveaway that they'd come up with that idea yet. Thanks for posting.

“Compared to the young people that are coming up today, I’m a priest!” Don wasn’t wrong about that at all!
  • @Coolkingman
I read both Bob’s and Don’s memoirs books. Love these two guys.

Look at the questions from the audience. Smart, curious and genuine regard. Today there is no dignity, grace or substance - in either the questions or the answers.
