The problem with the Petry trade was that if we still had him, we wouldn’t have had to trade Taylor Hall to replace him a year later...

Do an entire episode of Chiarelli screwing over Edmonton with bad trade after bad trade. A solid 4 bad trades in a row to destroy Edmontons present and future

That “we dont care, Jeff Petry rules” is so accurate lmao
  • The problem with justifying the Petry trade with the acquisition of Talbot is that it assumes that the trade for Talbot couldn't have happened using other picks.

The only reason it's a good trade for the oilers is because it made them a worse team and they won the draft lottery.

Win win. We continue to love Petry, they continue to rake in assets.

This is very true. As a Habs fan? Do not care. Jeff Petry rules. Jeff Petry freakin' rules.

MacTavish Trading away Jeff Petry led to Chiarelli blowing a 1st and 2nd on Griffin Reinhart. Keep Petry, draft any of Kyle Connor, Barzal, Aho, Chabot (hindsight 20/20). We then traded Hall for Larson after Griffin Reinhart didn't pan out.
  • So Petry, 5+ good seasons and counting for 1 good season of Talbot and a 6th or 7th D man. sounds like a pretty bad trade for the Oilers. Unless you figure they were gonna lose Petry for nothing if they hadn't made that trade. In that case, 1 season of Talbot is better then nothing.

I think it’s ridiculous to try to insinuate that this trade played a significant roll in Edmonton landing Mcdavid. If you just look at the pieces involved Montréal absolutely destroys Edmonton in this trade tree, it’s not even close.
  • Oh dear God, not THAT clip... STEVE! I'm sending you the bill for my therapy from now on!
