Drip feeding content to players to force them to come back even when they otherwise can't, else they'd miss the 'new' content. Is pretty crappy, honestly. Gaming should be fun, it should be enjoyable for anyone who wants to experience the 'new' stuff or stick to the old things. You should have the option to not update - to still have fun. Regardless of if it's less efficient or makes someone less money, the mere fact that people are willing to play games that force 'meta' strategies on their players is not good. Releasing half-baked solutions to the problems greed causes, doesn't fix anything. In fact, it just makes your players, the very people who were padding your pockets, despise you.
