Today the 'Gotheborg' the worlds largest wooden sailing ship arrived in London. She made a spectacular entrance through Tower bridge put on a great show then headed downstream to a mooring in Canary Wharf where she will be open to visitors until the 12th of August, well worth checking out! In the mean time enjoy her arrival!

  • Nice film of a fantastic event when Götheborg arrived and got the Tower Bridge to open at it´s maximum in order to enter and then turn around with the help of a tug. Thank you.

Thank you from midship watch who was onboard!! So nice to see so much interest in her 💛💛💛💙💙💙
  • Whilst staying in the intercontinental at the 02 we could see canary wharf from our room, I took a picture of an amazing ship in the Dock. I've just seen your video and realised what it was!!! Such a stunning vessel

"this is not a flatpack ship" earned you a sub from me XD Went to see her in Canary Wharf yesterday and wow what a treat! Thank you for uploading this, I was sad I didn't get the chance to go watch her come through the bridge, so this has definitely helped make up for it! <3
  • Cool to see it from outside the ship as well 😯
  • ok this is a really daft question, but how does it move? I get that it could float downstream with the current, but how did it move upstream? The tug only seemed to be keeping it in the centre, and not pushing it and the sails were not deployed.

Im not a ship historian or specialist, so i hope that idlf im wrong sayin this i could have someone explain to me why I am😊 but you see the white bit above the water line... Shouldn't that white bit be below, as id image rhe ship would need more ballast, or weight to let it sink a little deeper in the water? Or is it because the thames is shallower that the open sea, the hull isn't as deep in the water!😊

Why is this ship called the worlds largest wooden sailing ship? The SV Tenacious and the Hermione are 20 ft longer.

Its indeed a beatifull ship. But it is not the largest wooden sailing ship. The USS Constitiution is in every aspect larger. She has a greater length, a greater beam and a greater draft. Constitions sail area and displacement is almost double in size of that of the Götheborg.
