Managed to do one of my dream destinations, Nepal and made it to the Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. I decided to go Solo but along the way I hired a porter as my backpack was quite heavy. Navraj knew like 3 lines in Hindi and it was almost like a solo trip, just me and my thoughts along the way lol. After doing EBC, the next day I hiked alone to Kala Pattar and it was quite a tiring ascent - 5644.5 m / 18519 ft. The best views of Everest are from Kala Patthar and is a must do if you're going to EBC. I can't believe the Nepalis keep the whole route active by carrying all the food, gas cylinders and everything else, such strong people but it gets bad sometimes. The only traffic you see on the trails are from Yaks, donkeys who help transport goods etc lol. Such a great experience and great people! Elevation gain about 2785m/9190ft and 70kms one way- 140km round trip. You have regular tea houses which provide food, hot water to drink, tea, snacks etc. I ended up drinking the stream water with tabs, it's extremely cold and can be avoided. This trek is quite commercial and my best moments were when it started snowing and everyone stopped while we continued.

This trip turned out to be the toughest thing I've done in my life as I was sick throughout with a flu/COVID or what not as the Chinese tourists had started to come in then and I couldn't get a blood test done in the trail. Dr Abyu from Mountain Medical Institute was my saviour and huge regards to him and the meds he provided. Although my fitness was in the absolute best and bloody oxygen was 95, this was the toughest thing I did with the fever, weakness, meds and the chilling cold. Can't explain much but somehow I pushed through the setbacks amidst constant negative thoughts and of course I had no insurance lol. I missed Chola pass and Gokyo Ri, I can't wait to go back!
