Lyrics:
I’m no stranger to the rain
It starts rainin’, I start pourin’
I’ll take hurt like hell in the mornin’
Over feeling this way
There ain’t a mirror in this house anymore
Cause it kills me to see
The guy that let you leave
And walk right out the door
Kentucky bluebird, Kentucky bourbon
Sure got this ole boy hurtin’ in Tennessee

Good whiskey, girl it just don’t last
When Keith Whitley, keeps bringin’ ya up like that
Gets me drinkin’ about us and what it was
The things I love got a way of gettin’ gone too soon
Kinda like good whiskey, Keith Whitley and you

I hate the way you say nothing at all
I guess you said what you had to say
But what’s killin’ me tonight
Is when he’s lovin’ on you baby, you don’t close your eyes

Good whiskey, girl it just don’t last
When Keith Whitley, keeps bringin’ ya up like that
Gets me drinkin’ about us and what it was
The things I love got a way of gettin’ gone too soon
Kinda like good whiskey, Keith Whitley and you

Miami, my Amy
You sure got this ole boy hurtin’ up here in Tennessee

Good whiskey, girl it just don’t last
When Keith Whitley, keeps bringin’ ya up like that
Gets me drinkin’ about us and what it was
The things I love got a way of gettin’ gone too soon
Kinda like good whiskey, Keith Whitley and you

My wife has wanted us to settle on a name for our baby boy. She’s had her heart set on Whitley, I wasn’t all for it… Then here comes Morgan with this song. Whitley will be here come June 😂

Say what you want, but these live sessions are where it's at. I think we can all agree on that. We need full albums of this kind of sound
  • Still to this day I think Keith would have been king of country if his life wasn't cut short
  • love how they incorparated so much keith in this song... from beginning to end. Instant favorite after the first time hearing it.
  • I love how Morgan puts a lot of steel guitar in his music. It has almost gone extinct in today’s country unfortunately
  • “The things I love have a way of being gone too soon” who else can relate?

Definitely top 3 on this album. Such a great song.
  • It actually pains me that this song isn’t more popular; ITS THE BEST ON HIS ALBUM — may be the best in his discography 😅❤

I knew Keith Whitley. He is no Keith Whitley but it's great to see him acknowledge the greatest singer in country music.

I think Keith Whitley would be proud Morgan honored him. One of the greatest songwriters of Country Music today paying tribute to one of the greatest songwriters of the 80s is beautiful.
  • And he does it again! Another great song. Keep them coming, Morgan Wallen. we LOVE YOU ❤️

We don't hear country over here in Britain in the mainstream, but I stumbled on to Morgan by chance, and every song I've heard is great!

Best part of this song is how he included Keith whitleys style. How he would almost houl off notes

Most of your fan base probably has no clue who Keith Whitley is. RIP Mr. Whitley. Gone too soon.
  • He is simply THE BEST EVER!!!! His momma prayed for this and he’s got it!!!
  • @SJ-ni6iy
Keith Whitley will always be one of my favorites. I hope this song brings younger fans to his music.
  • This guy is flawless!!!! There hasn’t been an artist in general in the last 10 years pulling such powerful music across several genres!! His music is powerful and he just nails it
