The fact that this Guy was just abandoned by society and died on the streets will never be forgiven to humankind.
  • @Strangelove657
"You had downtime in the old world" he's on to something with that
  • @samuelprice2461
In the old world, people like Terry would have become monks, and lived in monastic communities, where they could be taken care of, and lived full lives.

I noticed the other day while driving that as soon as myself and the other cars around me got to a red light, EVERYONE immediately picked up their phone and started scrolling. People can't simply sit at a red light and wait in peace for two minutes. They need to be distracted as soon as there's a second of down time. Just look at the trees, look at the people passing by, relax for a minute. I dunno, I thought it was an interesting moment.

I agree with this dude completely. I kinda isolated myself in the last few years too. Everyone is running into nowhere. Everyone’s life is revolving around addictions that’s being pushed on you so corpo sell products which gives people jobs to make money so they can support their own addictions. It’s a vicious cycle and I think everyone knows that it will end horribly but unless you move into the woods and live off the land, you have no choice but to participate. I personally think it will end in a collapse and humanity will have to start all over again just like it happened before over and over again
  • “What’s reality? I don’t know. When my bird was looking at my computer monitor I thought, ‘That bird has no idea what he’s looking at.’ And yet what does the bird do? Does he panic? No, he can’t really panic, he just does the best he can. Is he able to live in a world where he’s so ignorant? Well, he doesn’t really have a choice. The bird is okay even though he doesn’t understand the world. You’re that bird looking at the monitor, and you’re thinking to yourself, ‘I can figure this out.’ Maybe you have some bird ideas. Maybe that’s the best you can do.” ― Terry A. Davis

The more videos I watch of him the more understanding I am and the worse I feel for how his fate turned out. At first I just saw memes and him saying slurs and stuff, I used think that’s all there was about him until recently reading up on him and looking into his life some more ….

He’s absolutely right about the old world. I was reading an article recently that said contrary to our modern image of medieval peasants toiling and suffering out these sad, short lives, they typically worked 5 or 8 hours a day in the morning and did this for only 5 months out of the year. Humanity, at least historically, spent a LOT of time doing whatever we wanted to do in our free time. We were left to social devises. I think there is a direct correlation to the loss of culture and the hyper-fixation on individual schedules in modernity. We all bustle about from dawn to dusk, we delegate the education of our fucking children to the state, we have day-cares and after-school programs for kids that would’ve basically been wandering around in pre-modernity or developing interpersonal relationships on their own terms… everything is very facilitated and manufactured and arranged these days. I’m not sure how much longer humanity is going to persist as it has historically, as the regime we currently live under in the West attempts to dissolve things like gender and language to permit more of this giving-up-of-all-self to work, education, facilitated media entertainment, video games etc. Everyone integrates into their little niche entertainment subculture. Communitarian values are being replaced with atomic individualism.

If you are isolated from people you think differently to them.
  • The truth is the "old world" still exists, but we're too addicted to our addictions to pursue it
  • @archonicmakes
90% of the people will click on another video after watching this one. No downtime, no thoughts. But thanks for helping that 10%, Terry.
  • @OldieWan
Society failed you Terry. We lost one of the greatest minds this world will ever see. A true loss for us all. The world is a lesser place without Terry in it.
  • @highestsettings
I don't think that loneliness makes you a visionary. I think being a visionary makes you lonely. Nobody every understands you and you never understand why everybody else can't understand.
  • The deepest conversations I've ever had were with older homeless people that nobody ever talks to. The closest thing to God on Earth, is a homeless vagabond suffering from schizophrenia.
  • @bananajoe9951
Before we had cell phones, there was alot of downtime. I wish everyone could have lived during that time, when things were slower and people were patient.
  • @noahepburn
The reference to that passage in Daniel where "iron is mixed with clay" is a reference to Man becoming one with Machine. And being so glued to our TVs and Smartphones is detrimental to us as humans. I dont think many really understand how profound this is. Terry may not have been sane, but he had the wisdom of God many "sane" people could never dream of possessing. I will see you in the Kingdom one day my brother.
  • @Meinnearach0204
Solitude is the pressure that forms the diamond, and complete honesty with ourselves is the furnace that burns away all delusion. The path of authentic wisdom is walking on the edge of a sword, but its fruit is liberation, nirvana, waking up from the dream. Here one moment and gone the next, like the wafting of a flame, or cloud dissolving into the boundless sky.
  • @lordmanatee439
Lonliness brings vision is true. The more lonely I got, the better I could see the world. I became more understanding, but have lost the ability to appear in public. It's over
  • @artscollab
Terry’s life story needs to be told as a feature film. Terry, played by Daniel Day-Lewis. I had a vision of this, and hope it comes to pass.
  • @txkillersnow
When I stopped hitting my friends up and started doing solely what I wanted to I started to grow. Self isolation is necessary. People are never alone with their own thoughts anymore.
