If you're gonna get scammed buying sealed product, at least do it from wizards themselves
  • I was like "hey, 1 booster pack and a promo card, sounds neat, it will probably sell for around 5.99 dollars". And then... 17.99 LOL
  • @Kimch87
I would be willing to say that the whole "It's aimed at parents" argument is exactly why it's a scam and not just a rip off. They prey on those who doesn't know and all I can hope is that the price itself is enough to dissuade people from buying it, even if they don't know the real "value".

I haven't played Magic in over a decade, but I somehow got your video pushed to me by "the algorithm" so I gave it a watch. I have to say, this is a solid piece of content and you're doing a great thing by spreading the word about these kinds of parasites who try to scam people and sully a hobby by selling garbage to those who may not know any better. Cheers!

my problem with these is that they aren't meant to scam us, the seasoned players who know, this scam is meant to target our loved ones looking to get a gift, and new players.

Not all heroes wear capes Prof, some wear button down shirts and vests while talking to a camera. But seriously Prof, thanks for everything you do!
  • We had these at Walgreens when I worked there. I would straight up tell people its a scam. This and the repacks of opened pokemon cards. I would just point them to the official boosters.
  • @Tornven2003
This is another reason to love prof. He is looking out for everyone all the time. Absolute heart of gold 🥰

"When your grandma or cool dad" really sealed the point for me. I never got into these stupid repackaged products but thinking about some teenager's family doing a cool thing for them like, buying them cards for this game they love, really does hammer home how disgusting this practice is.

Ive seen these at Target and never realized the crazy price. I assumed they were going to be $5-8 because the pricing tags are rarely accurate and things seem to float around in Target. Make that assumption and grab a pack or two and dont notice the price while being checked out is the likely problem... Then notice it on the receipt and ask to return... I noticed a lot of Targets wont take back TCG stuff due to people scamming returning product they resealed. Not a good situation all around.

We used to get these when I worked at Walgreens. I did the, check the sides for the color and art to spot out somethings. I was gonna buy it when it got damaged by a customer a few days later, which meant we have to throw them out. I cracked them open anyway and found intact Apocalypse pack. Lets just say it didn't make it to the garbage bin... suddenly.. more and more of these mystery bundles were getting damaged... and having to be thrown out. I think kids trying to steal them were thinking they were Yugioh or Pokemon cards. All in all, I walked away with a fair share of dark steels and apocalypse packs, and an assortment of fun goodies like gate watch. Only thing I truly miss about that job I think.

Hey, I'm in Tampa, Florida and I just got into Magic a week ago. Found your channel the other day and so far you've got some good info, thanks for that! Very helpful.

In the 80s, Nintendo would call retailers and tell them that they would receive no new official Nintendo releases so long as they had unlicensed games in their store. I strongly believe that this is what WotC should do.
  • @ForgottenAesir
I learned about repacks being a shitty scam when I bought two of those repackaged acrylic boxes with "100 cards and a promo!" And they were both literally a promo, the same common equipment card, and 99 lands.
  • @Samurai_DooZah
Honestly I consider you the voice of Magic the Gathering. I go to you for all my magic info, products, and reviews. Thank you for your contribution to this beloved game.
  • @iRetneprac
This is my first video of yours I have watched firsthand, and I just want to say how grateful I am for it. I thought I was already subscribed, but now I am for sure. I may not know a lot about you, but I know I admire and respect you. Looking forward to the future!
  • @andxi1919
Top notch consumer advocacy as always
  • These are packaged by Fairfield company. Never buy from Fairfield. They have a history of opening packs, removing cards, adding commons or cheap foils, and resealing them. Definitely don't buy the 'collection' or 'bundle' packs. You have about a 10% chance to actually get everything the pack says you're supposed to get.
  • @Gulocide
I've always hated how scummy these reseller cover companies for bigger corps can get. Great shout out! Thanks for looking out Fam!
