For those of you who don't know why people are freaking out about MVC2 in particular: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has basically been in video game jail for something like 10 years - yeah, since 2013, when Capcom lost the rights to distribute it. We've been putting up with playing it on emulation, which has been pretty decent, but all we've wanted was for it to have its support retained and updated into the modern console/PC era officially. That this has emerged from what's essentially Gaming Purgatory is a big fucking deal, not just for MVC2, but for the franchise as a whole.
