What I really like is the fact you reused a lot of existing tools. Genius.

That would have been so funny if you'd have 3D printed it back into the same exact bottle 😄

I like how you repurposed existing tools. I think you could improve your winder by making it hold a spool for filament so you don't have to unwind it at the end.

I dig the drywall screws holding your fan guard on the hot end. 👍

I love how simple you made the setup yet the print looks very good!
  • What a great project. I'm gonna try this. However, if i cant get a reduction assembly, I may build a speed controller for the drill setup. Thanks for your video!

Great video! Do you have the specs on the gearing setup for the spooler? also is that a high temp dual melt gun? Specs would be appreciated! thanks for the video!

Amazing! I never thought to use a hot glue gun as the extruder. I was a bit confused at first, but after looking through the comments I think I understand the hot glue gun setup (please correct me if I am wrong). It looks like the specific hot glue gun used has changeable nozzles, and that is where the drilled threaded nozzle comes into play (I was thinking it was welded on at first). I wonder if this extrusion setup could be modified further to output more solid filament that is also closer to 1.75mm diameter (from what I see the resulting filament here is "hollow" as it doesn't fully melt the PET and doesn't quite come to the 1.75mm diameter mark). Very impressive setup! I'll definitely be referencing this if/when I try making one myself. :D

broooo you're amazing! the thought and effort put into this and sharing it with the world as awesome! thank you again for sharing! i just got my first printer (A1mini) and i think it would be pretty cool to recycle some of the plastic found on the beaches here of Oahu and turn it into something useful to ppl here, not sure just what, yet but now i have this knowledge! thank you brah

I loved the video! Very good print quality! I have a question, in how many seconds does the Main Spool make a complete turn?
