Jonny Bass 100 (Dry Storage Pod Motor Mod)

Published 2022-03-02
In this video I am showing how I use my minnkota trolling motor installed through the dry storage pod to make steering easy instead of reaching back to the transom mount.

Wow man, I did the same thing with my jonny without even knowing about your s. I bought the motorized trolling motor pod. It came with the steering handle but the way it operated, it would rip the handle out of the unitrack, so i removed the existing trolling motor, shortened my minnkota traxxis and it works great. The only downside of that is u probably need to move your seat closer to the pod, i got the extension handle. 👍👍 great idea!
  • it would be cool if you had a video of how u installed that troll motor in the storage , your a genius

Man , this is a genius idea!! Can u make a video on how you built/ installed the modified dry storage box?? I plan on getting a johnny bass 100 next month. This was the idea I was wondering about if it can be done. To have a little engine on the back with a Minn Kota spot lock motor in the center. Pretty much have a mini bass boat. Thanks for the info. Hope u can give us a video on the process. Sorry for the long message . But I'm hyped to know how u did it !!

Hey brother is there anyway you can make in depth video on how you rigged your setup? I’d love to do the same for my rig

nice build, Would love to figure out a way to do this and still be able to remove the trolling motor from pod

What size pvc did you use and do you need a bearing where the head touches the pvc?
  • I have my Jonny bass boat 100 coming in this week. I plan on doing this same mod but with a 55lb trolling motor at the bottom fixed in place and steer with the rudder. Is the pod solid enough to hold the motor weight? or did you have to reinforce the bottom of the pod?
