In the NBA there was a player called Brian Scalabrine and he was a massive meme. People didn’t take him seriously at all, but he said I’m closer to LeBron and Jordan than you are to me. Which people thought was a joke. Then he played against randoms who challenged him and absolutely destroyed them. Pro level is just different, regardless of sport.

I was a 48 rated GK on FIFA 06. Trained with Jussi Jaaskelinen every week at Bolton when they were good and hopefully added to the session, number 2 to Matt Gilks at Rochdale who went on to play in the prem, kept the bench warm for Tom Heaton for United under 18s plus a shit load of other prem keepers back in the day. But yeah, shit stats for a pro, but a professional goalkeeper never the less. Remember, there are only 92 professional clubs, only really 2 keepers per team, so you're effectively one of the best 184 goalkeepers in the country even with those stats.

A 56 rated player is closer to the levels of Messi and Ronaldo than a Sunday league footballer trying becoming a professional footballer.

Zaid is very good and likeable on camera. Nice to see he is doing well, I remember him watching in the LDN 5 a side matches.

Very skilful, no doubt. But the rating could be based on match performances. I think the mental strength during games (under pressure) could have contributed to the low scores. Top players are always calm and decide best on what to do on the pitch (to pass or to dribble etc). These aspects enhance their performances during games, hence the higher ratings.

Bro I used to play football on leisure time and sometimes a friend who played 5th league in the Regionalliga Germany used to drop by and we couldn’t keep up with him. Totally violating. These guys are on another levels

One of the main differences which you mentioned is the efficiency. Pros have a way of instantly identifying your weakness in defence, and then going for that... Even if that weakness is just a slightly wrong setting of your body in the moment. There's also this wierd tipping point, when you defend against ok players, you react to what they are doing. When you defend against good players, you have to play mind games a bit by pretending to leave an opening for them, knowing they're going to try attack it. But when you play against proper players? They're just ahead of you physically and mentally, and all you can do is hope for the best

Regardless of his FIFA card rating, if a player gets paid to play football professionally then he's going to be a good player.

Actually those low rated players in fifa doesn’t really show how reality is. You can take for example some players like Lewandowski in his first fifa card and you will see him with very low stats but when these guys starts to perform well on the pitch they suddenly have their scores increased, like today its just unimaginable see Lewa below 80 points. Who knows if this player on the video isn’t actually deserving a 70-75 rating but he is just not famous enough for that?

Nice video, I've always felt like FIFA ratings are deceptive. While theoretically based on "observable" data, none of those skills are static in a player, and it's hard to drive away biases. Moreover, even taking them at face value, we still have to remember that lower-rated players are still elite athletes playing on well-known teams, they would mop the floor with amateurs, even talented amateurs.

I think that rating doesn’t necessarily means he got bad rating. It’s just who you compete with. You don’t want to see a 188 pace Mbappe just because you want 80 right
