In this video I race the 3000m steeplechase at the 2024 US Olympic Trials. This race is for spots on the Olympic team, and it's what I've been training for for months. It's been an amazing training block, and I'm stoked to finish it off at the US Championships. Thank you for watching and cheering!

8 billion people on the planet. 4 billion women. 20th fastest in the world is nothing short of amazing.

Not shown in this video, but the NBC coverage showed Allie immediately hugging and celebrating with her friend who made the team. I know Allie isn't disappointed in her performance, but she did miss out on the team, and to immediately be able to shift gears and be happy for someone else says so much about her personality. Great athletic performances will be forgotten and surpassed, but that kind of show of character is the kind of thing that I always remember and root for.
  • What do you mean you weren't close to being an Olympian? You made the finals of The US trials and came only 4 places outside the qualifying positions in the fastest US trials race ever. That's very close. How many previous trial races would your time have won. So proud of you. You ran your fastest race ever and never gave up. ❤❤

you mentioned in a past vid something about how trying really hard for a goal, even if you don't get it, is not a waste of time or something to be ashamed of. that really stuck with me. there's such dignity in that, and I see it in you. great job running and documenting your journey!

Incredible race. 7th in the nation with a big PR. Well done Allie. It was awesome following your journey.

Papa Ostrander “I cut all this sh*# up” was an unexpected amount of funny 😂
  • First, thank you for sharing your journey with us. Second, you managed to PR at the Olympic Trials. Let that sink in for a second. You can only control what you can control, you ran a great race, the fact that it was the fastest Olympic Trials race in history is not something you could have envisioned or controlled. Congratulations.
  • On Instagram you called this experience a "beautiful failure". That phrase has really stuck with me. I feel like most of my life is just that, a beautiful failure. While it's fun to see people have dream days, some of us can relate, and be inspired, way more by people who give it their all, fall short, and choose to be thankful and joyful anyway.
  • Allie, I'm a middle aged guy who only started running at age 51. You are one of my heroes and an inspiration as I learn to deal with multiple chronic illnesses. Your persistence to fight while mind and body say "you aren't enough" and how the effort to achieve what you want gets you to better places whether you achieve the goal or not helps motivate me and others through our own struggles. Thank you for being your awesome self.

What a mature young lady you are. Your post race interviews were so impressive, intelligent and inspiring. You are amazing, well done!

Well, that's the first time I've ever yelled at the TV during a steeplechase, way to go Allie, should be super proud of that PR!
  • @snooples
the fact that the slowest qualifying time of 9:07.14 would have won any other us trial/us championship really puts into perspective how crazy this race was, i really like how adapted after your initial plan was derailed super early on and u kept givin it ur best shot and came out with a pr really nice that the whole fam came and dad o gave georgie that special treatment im sure he loved it and of course u had to tease us with whats comin next ahhhh im so curious itd be sick to see u in more high caliber races or maybe even more trail??
  • @DeathyAS
I watched the NBC coverage specifically for you. A PR and surpassed the Olympic standard all despite being two weeks out from covid. You did absolutely amazing.
  • You made the finals to the Olympics and put on an gutsy performace, very few can say that. But Olympians don't just perform they inspire others so we ourselves can feel that Olympic spirit. You my dear have inspired me (and others) to get out of our comfort zones and most of all to be fearless in chasing our dreams. You are what embodies an Olympian. Thank you and I can't wait for the next adventure.
  • @JeffKowing
Allie exudes the Olympic Creed “The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.” Thank you Allie for sharing your story and your struggles. You are amazing and inspiring and a warrior!
  • @htownblue11
Your journey ended with you pr best performance ever. That’s a win regardless if it comes with a ticket to Paris. And you took on the hardest steeplechase race of ALL TIME in the qualifier and still ran a PB and was only a few seconds behind having a legit top 3 shot. Your performance would have easily qualified you in previous years, just turned out the field was stronger than it ever has been and you still were in the top group. Impressive.
  • @Cocobird1233
The important part was your journey. Watching you work up to this and still do amazing was incredible. I’m behind thankful for getting to witness this. 20th fastest time? Great job, Allie ❤🎉YOU DID AMAZING 💕
  • @samlevington
Congrats on the great performance and PR! To be the 7th fastest woman steeplechaser in the US and 20th in the world is nothing to scoff at. Thanks for the transparency in the videos as well, it’s been a fun series to watch.

I don’t know about you, but every time I’ve had Covid, it just TANKS my cardiovascular conditioning. My lung capacity is rubbish after. My resting heart rate is 10-20bpm higher…for months. I think you ran an amazing race considering what the virus can do to a body…and 20th fastest in the world is spectacular. 🎉. All the best!❤
