  • In reply to a couple of comments, reading aloud might be problematic for learners of English who don’t yet pronounce all their words correctly. In that case, reading along (or shadowing) while someone else reads aloud, could be a good idea.
  • Hi Luke I am a doctor from India and i have been suffering from depression and Ocd for the past 25 years. For people suffering from OCD and depression concentration can be a very big issue .They are never in the present moment. I can definitely vouch that reading out loud helps you stay in the moment and helps form memories .
  • I learn English and Germany. And I read it out loud whenever possible. My pronunciation improved much.

when I was young and studying but still living at home, my father always told me to read outloud my books and homework to learn from what I was reading. He had his own oldtimer podcast to me ! Haha ☺️📚 education was his number 1 in life.

I'm so glad that I found your podcast. It's been almost three months since I started my new job, and I feel like I need to improve my English as in this position, I'm dealing with writing emails, online meetings, etc. Anyway, this podcast is really helping me. I also have suggested it to my husband in his English learning journey. Thanks, Luke.
  • I’m really into this kind of podcast. I’m strengthening my vocabulary and my speaking skill thanks to this. Hope that you will have more episodes like this in the future!

My pronunciation improved widely since I started reading loudly after you in English Prodcast. Thanks a lot.
  • Reading aloud is a magical way to be more confident with the productive use of English in context.
  • Luke, thank you! it was the whole lesson to me as if I study at a language school. I read the article twice aloud before I listened to your reading. I slowed down the video to keep up you:) I wish all English speaking people spoke like you- clearly and nicely!
  • Greg, great, great lesson Luke👏👏👏👏. I’m reading in this days The Medicis which is a story of the Medici’s Family of Florence. Two days ago I started to read the book aloud because I thought that in this way I will pay more attention to my pronunciation. And I succeed. So it’s absolutely through what the article says……. What the article doesn’t say is that if you are reading in that way, you need to have next to you a glass of water because your mouths, particularly your tongue, will get dried 😊, but the experience is absolutely positive.

Luke's podcast also is a great memory for me. The very first time I checked out luke's podcast was way back to my uni life in the leeds. Our school accommdation's janitor is an immigrant. Every time, i greeted to him and his english really amazed me. And we started talking about his journey to the leeds, and asked about his English as well. He recommended luck's channel to me. That is why luck's podcast is not all about learning english, it is also anout my memory meeting nice friend.❤
  • A nice article that scientifically explains the way you, Luke, teach us and the way we learn English with your podcast. We listen to your reading aloud, read silently the text while watching it, read out loud some extracts after listening to you. It works. 👍Thank you for this episode.❤
