It would have been nice to see a tunneled version of the Central Freeway linking US 101 in the Hayes Valley area to the Presidio area, along with a similar tunnel linking the Southern Freeway at 19th Avenue to Park Presideo Drive near the Golden Gate Bridge. If BART can go underground, so can freeways.

Fun fact back in the 50s before the freeway revolts, they were planning on building three more bridges to connect SF to Marin and the East Bay, the Tiburon Bridge was only one of those. They wanted to build a bridge from the Sunset/Seacliff to the Marin Headlands and name it the Diablo Bridge. This would have coincided with the plan to build a community on top of the hills in Sausalito called Marincello, but opposition to the housing blocked it from happening. This made building the bridge pointless

I still have dreams of riding on the Embarcadero Freeway as a kid, but I cannot seem to remember the Central Freeway at all

Ironically one of the San Francisco Freeway Revolt leaders, Sue Bierman, who opposed the Golden Gate Park Panhandle freeway project and who became a San Francisco city supervisor in the 1980s-1990s had died in a car accident in 2006, crashing her car into a dumpster in her neighborhood street. Not known if she had suffered a medical episode that caused her to crash.

Freeways divided neighborhoods, glad some of them are gone or were never built.

Golden Gate Park would be very compromised today with two freeways and a big freeway interchange in it.

I STRONGLY WISH this freeway 🛣 was built and still want an adequate freeway in San Francisco. Maybe one day! 🙄idiots for tiring it down!
