  • A lot of people hate this movie or make fun of it, but I really love it. The whole concept is really cool to me and while the movie could have been better, it’s still great imo.

The old guy who says "oh thank god" he's relieved he's gonna die cause he's probably been down in that oil filled hole for 50 years
  • @adamromero
I like to think there's no more land left because Dennis Hopper chewed up all the scenery in this! 😂👍
  • @Dillpicks95
This movie is criminally underrated. Even though it bombed at the box office and it got a lot of hate, it’s still a fun entertaining post-apocalyptic/action/adventure movie, it’s like Mad Max on water.

For anyone who is curious: There is a fan-made extended cut of Waterworld called "the Ulysses cut". It's essentially the 40 minute longer TV version, but without the censorship for nudity. It had a few issues (such as unfinished CGI shots), but it fixes a lot of the film's problems story-wise. The Arrow Blu-Ray edition has the Ulysses cut.

I love the way Dennis Hopper's bad eye keeps changing back and forth from left to right.

The guy flying the airplane is Jack Black. I've seen a version of this movie where they find a plaque on top of the island on the high point says Sir Edmund Hillary climb this sometime in the past and it says Mount Everest! The critics panned this movie and as usual I think they're crazy I enjoyed it!

Reference. The Exxon Valdez tanker really existed. In March 1989, he crashed off the coast of Alaska. He ran into a reef. More than 200 thousand barrels of oil spilled into the sea. The largest accident at sea before the accident on the Deepwater Horizon platform in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 (which was also filmed).
  • If you liked Waterworld you should check out Kevin Costner's other post apocalyptic movie that he did right after this one called The Postman.
  • @KramersWall
Jen discovering that The Mariner has gills is the greatest moment on this channel to date.
  • @tremorsfan
The writer of this movie first pitched his idea to famous low budget producer Roger Corman. When Corman heard the idea he reportedly said "Are you crazy? That'll cost $5 million".
  • Everyone is mentioning Untouchables (which you should watch), but Bull Durham, Dances with Wolves, Wyatt Earp, The Postman.....all good stuff
  • @WILLMELEE4FOOD
Now do, The Postman Great villan in that epic post-apocalyptic tale
  • @josefgordon7712
😳 what the what, I just randomly rewatched this two days ago. I feel like it’s aged decently and is more entertaining than given credit for. I always related to the poor old “oh thank God” fella 😆
  • @jonmercano1138
“Dry land is not a myth! I have seen it!” Jim Carrey, The Cable Guy. But no one in this movie, apparently. Not even the extended version
  • I remember as a kid I went to Six Flags theme park one summer with some friends and they had a whole water reenactment show of the Atol battle with the Smokers, boats, jet skis, explosions... 8 year old me was absolutely loving it, to the point where this became one of my favorite movies afterwards.

"We've got another loose cannon..." The outwater creeper is played by character actor Kim Coates. He's in a ton of stuff and usually gives a slightly unhinged performance.
