In a year where we had Frieren, Thorfinn, Maomao, Aqua and Ruby, The Shibuya Incident, Akiras Zombie Apocalypse and the return of Hayao Miyazaki how could it not be an absolutely incredible year for anime?

Vinland saga slowly but surely became one of the best anime I've ever watched. I had never had a piece of media make me cry out of pure philosophycal introspection. It is amazingly deep and by far the best anime/season of 2023.

I'm so glad he mentioned Apothecary Diaries. That show is the full package, and I think most anime enjoyers would have fun watching it. It's got an incredibly witty female lead who isn't just a pretty face, and it balances comedy and drama really well.

Frieren is probably my favorite anime, it was absolutely insane, and incredibly immersive, watching it made me smile then immediately cry
