I always believe that Arms has to fight for a German sketch just to remind everyone that he can speak German
-
Lol i was not expecting that German teacher ending. Great sketch as always
-
“And imperfect”🤣🤣 Finally I can use my 6 years of German education to understand something
-
As a German speaker I found this hilarious!😂
-
Hahaha, what a timing for this sketch, as I am currently on a business trip to Germany and just last night I was discussing about German language with colleagues! No matter how kind you are, German kids are Kinder 😄 Viele Grüße aus Deutschland! 🤗😘

I applied for a job in a german speaking worksite on the back of 4 years of high school german. At the interview they asked me (in German ) if I spoke German. I replied "not really" in German. They said that'll do! At the end of the year's work I was almost fluent.

"After that the Germans are just gonna want to practice their english" - fair enough, I noticed that I tend to switch to english fairly quickly in a conversation with non-german speakers. So you got me there 😂
-
This is brilliant 😂 As a German (and linguist), I absolutely love it. Reminds me of that essay by Mark Twain "The awful German language", really funny too, but your sketch is funnier. So looking forward to the show in Hamburg. Have a wonderful day!

I’ve been teaching myself German and this is surprisingly accurate.
-
As a German teacher teaching adults beginners this was brilliant...
-
Lads I know you don't really do tv programs but if you ever get asked for Taskmaster, please say yes
-
i'm gonna show this to my students on monday - and then i'll massively dissappoint them with the harsh reality that it's actually not that easy😂😂
-
“Perfect.” “And imperfect. You see, it’s all there, and so simple!” I love this sketch so very much.

My partner spent 7 years in Germany, after which he came back to our home country speaking flawless English and nothing beyond a few words in German. That's the first time I heard of that 20-second rule referenced here. Germans want to see you struggle in their language for a bit but after 20 seconds they take pity on you or are frustrated at hearing their own language so badly butchered, and switch to English.
-
Did this entire sketch arise out of Arms trying to convince the lads to learn German with him? 😂
-
As an Irish person who grew up in Germany I just love this! Brilliant writing, well done 👍
-
This video was eye opening, even for a German! 😂😂 And, well, my absolute favourite, has to be Bürgermeister as well, never thought about that before. I'm working in a job where I have to talk to Bürgermeisters quite regularly, now I can never look at the again with a straight face 😂😂😂

Top tip for learning German - fall in love with a German speaker. It provides excellent motivation, and you can pick up so much about German by translating backwards their Denglisch! The using the present tense to talk about the future, nobody needed to teach me that in a classroom. Caveat - might not work so well if their English is too good. So you've got to pick carefully. Downsides - the bilingual wedding invitations look very crowded, and you definitely need to avoid mentioning gifts!

Hoffentlich kommt Foil damit klar, dass er im November dann überall Deutsch sprechen muss, nachdem er so mit seinen Kenntnissen angegeben hat. :D Vielen Dank für diesen Sketch! <3

Brilliant! If I had only followed your advice, I would be fluent in Deutsch. My biggest problem is that every Berliner under 40 refused to speak German. They would get so irritated by me and immediately switched to English. The gymnasium comment was perfect! Now I am in Sicily, destroying the Italian language! 😂
