Sometimes everything sucks and Emmy is like “here is bread in a bag” and that’s a good thing

As a native American myself. I appreciate the brief history... I see a lot of comments about the bag... A lot of the reason why the bag was used.... Is generally the dry ingredients were mixed and kept in a bag because when indigenous people were hurded to reserves and settlements, more often than not they were forced to leave again and again and couldn't bring more than they can carry, so at least mixed like this (not always in a bag but old jars, old flour sacks etc, because it was easier to transport one mix, than it would be a bag of flour, a container of salt etc

I’ve been watching Emmy for YEARS. She shows nothing but kindness and consideration, and anybody who is mean to her needs to go away.

In the 80's we did alot of traveling and camping, my mother would prep bread put the ingredients in bread bags and usually when we got to where we could make a meal the dough was great for wrapping around a stick and placed near the fire or small balls and toasted like a marshmallow, miss you mom😘

Speaking of Native Americans! You should make Indian tacos! They're sooooo good! Instead of a taco shell they use fry bread it's a pillowy crunchy delicious vessel for a taco! I think you'd love it! 😊

I saw bread in a bag in the title, and also immediately thought of friendship bread. Was so tasty and fun to do when I was younger.

Hi Emmy, I usually don’t comment on these YouTube videos. I watch them on my Roku and I would have to go on line to do this which I am doing now. I’m an old man and old enough to be your father, but I so much enjoy your videos and have really fallen in love with you, lol when I was a child, my father was in the military stationed in West Germany on the border with what was then East Germany and I went to the department of Defense schools there and I had a Korean school teacher who was so different from anyone I ever knew up until that point. I came from kind of an abusive background, my father was an army, sergeant and rough and gruff, but this teacher was so soft-spoken and kind she made an impression on me that I’ve never forgotten and ever since I’ve discovered your videos. I remember her every time. I just am in nostalgic Wonderland when I watch your videos so I had to reach out and thank you thank you thank you. I love your videos and yes, I’ll say it and I’ll say it out loud. I love you too. Keep up the good work.

This would be fantastic for a class with children / younger people or people who have disabilities. I just passed the url on to a co-worker who leads a program for people who have varying degrees of disabilities. He thought it would be a great and fun exercise for them. Many of the people in the program have difficulty using different kinds of utensils - this could be a game changer for them. Thank you, Emmy!
  • I actually did this with my class when I taught 5th grade. It was a great way for the kids to experience the bread making process with minimal mess. We baked the loaves in crock pots. My classroom smelled wonderful.

Love that you don't follow the directions when things seem off, but also explain why. The final breads look great!

This made me think of Navaho fry bread. My oldest son loves it and now I think I'm going to have to make some.

I am definitely a bread heel and crust person. It's the most delicious part of the bread.

I used to love make breads and rolls. My boys could not wait for them to get done. I'm unable to stand and knead anymore. So I've been looking for no kneading. This is a great video. Homemade YUMM-O!!

I would love to see more of these recipes. With food prices like they are, finding inexpensive staples like bread and other healthy meals would be so helpful. I love your videos and learning a bit about the history behind these foods is wonderful!
