Thundersnow is really cool in real life; I've been lucky enough to experience it a handful of times, and it's incredibly eerie. The snow muffles all the high-frequencies, so where you would normally hear a crack followed by the rumble, in thundersnow, unless you're really close, all you'll hear is the rumble.

Hey! I made the map of the climate zones you featured in the video. When I originally made that map a few years back, there wasn’t any information like this online aside from the game files themselves, so I’m really glad you made this video! Awesome work.
  • @meerkatmatrix
Excited to explore Tears of the Kingdom and still learn things from you 6 years from now
  • @sledgen.
I can't tell you how many times I've needed to climb somewhere and it starts raining. Thankyou for revealing something that I have been curious about for so long!
  • This topic is quite interesting, and the fact that you cared to create subtitles and made the conversion of the degrees show how much effort you put in your videos for them to be more clear and easy to understand. Thanks for your hard work ❤

thanks so much for converting the fahrenheit to celsius! i just recently noticed that Link’s freezing starts at exactly 0°C, which makes sense because this is the temperature at which snow stays on the ground instead of melting. That being the “i’m cold” point is pretty logical in-game, because it means that most of the time, the player can anticipate where exactly the temperature will drop by looking at where the snow is. That prevents Link from “randomly” starting to shiver in, say, a regular night on Hyrule Plain, with no idea how to leave the cold area, which would probably annoy players.

We now have our very own Hyrule meteorologist! Now these are weather forecasts I could listen to on loop! Nice video, Croton, I really like it! Glad to see you're still making videos on BoTW until ToTK comes out!
  • Great job with your final BotW Stats video! As someone who loves studying the temperature changes in game, this was really cool.

Long time watcher from YT on my flatscreen. Logging on my phone so I can tell you this older lady appreciates how much you love this game. Thank you for consistently showing how great BoTW is. Tina
  • @mitchboynunn
I’m happy Nintendo hasn’t scared you away from making botw content
  • I really love these stats videos. Can't wait to learn all about Tears of the Kingdom soon!
  • 2:03 That problem with the rain turning to snow is why a lot of meteorology and climatology sites refer to it as preciptiation.

I've noticed it is always sunny in Tarrey Town when you visit. Even if there is a thunderstorm, you will see it change as you approach town. The location will still experience the rain before you get there though, as you will see it wet when you arrive and you will need to light the fire at the cooking pot, since the rain put it out. So Link literally brings sunshine to Tarrey Town.
  • @edwheezer6231
Thanks for explaining the sun showers, that always confused me! I got one earlier today...right as I was about to get the blue flame to the Akkala Tech Lab :]
  • You could tell me that it rains 100% of the time and I would believe you 🙃
  • It's honestly really cool to me that the devs took into account everything to keep track of the actual temperature an area would be in depending on the geography and weather.
  • @Polar-ul8hn
Found this channel recently and it very quickly became one of my favorites. Really cool to see someone this passionate about one of my favorite games
  • Never knew the temperature switched between day and night outside of the desert - kinda awesome that the akala tower is at the perfect altitude to study some of these changes
