  • This will be fascinating to look back on in a hundred years when HS2 is finally completed.

I really hope the original full HS2 routes can be built eventually. Axing sections of planned HS2 routes is just soul destroying to someone who wishes the UK had a credible domestic high speed railway like in much of Europe and other countries. I hope after the North West line is completed (rumours of not even making it past Birmingham frighten me), the North East Line (Phase 2b) will be revived. High speed rail needs to continue to Edinburgh, Glasgow and one is needed to Cardiff too! I wonder if a future high speed line with an under sea tunnel under the Irish Sea could connect England and Scotland with Belfast in Northern Ireland and Dublin in the Republic of Ireland? That would be a great project! This is infrastructure that would really pay off for generations to come.

A few years ago I asked HS2 as to whether the new Euston station would have a pedestrian friendly link to Euston Square underground platforms and I was told yes. As a result of the halt on the development of Euston it seems that the pedestrian friendly link is being sacrificed. I just wished the Department for Transport would understand the need for proper connections between modes of transport. HS2 Birmingham is not next to New St. Birmingham and now we have this problem remaining at Euston.
  • Finally, someone who knows how to make an excellent presentation. Thank you very much. The videos that HS2 puts out are rubbish in comparison. And for us travelers from the u.s., yours are much appreciated.

2:18 I was not expecting you to say 2036 lmao. Glad to know that the US isn’t the only ones with severely delayed high speed rail projects

"some pleasing shots" has been an understatement, thanks for the video :)
  • Fantastic video. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to produce this. It really helps clarify the plans, and progress so far.

Thanks, Nicholas for the update video, on Euston Station's progress, it is well-presented and informative. I used to visit the Station and Collectors corner, selling off old station signs and signaling equipment back in the 1960s...

Thank you for this. I spent an hour filming and talking to some of the workers that are in your video in July. I live in Canada now, but as a child, then recently renovated Euston was our portal to a London from Rugby. Your drone video give me an overhead video of what I saw on the ground in July 2023. Than you for having made and posted it.

Thanks for sharing this great footage! I used to live in this area, so it's fab to see this view!
  • @strafrag1
    Subscribed. Great video. Thank you.

Crazy how there still isnt a unified plan for a HS2 and National Rail Euston....

I was talking to a Network Rail engineer about a decade ago and he was lamenting the fact that the track around the Watford area and south was taking such a hammering from the Pendolinos, despite the maintenence work taking place to keep the track in good operating condition, the whole thing needed a good strip out and replacement to bolster their lifespan. A lot of work goes into keeping them running. The holiday shutdowns are never enough.

Informative video with some great aerial footage. Thank you. Perhaps, some on screen graphics when you are speaking about a particular section would help.
  • An excellent and informative video - thank you for posting. This will also (over time) contribute to the body of "how did they do that?" enquiries from future generations. Nicely done.
