Part 4: The Vintage Australian Hercus 9 metal lathe project (Finished! And a new Bench to boot)

Part 4: And it's done! Fred sure rocketed forward on the restoration of this old metal Lathe. The Hercus 9" never looked to proud! He also went to town on bulding a heavy duty work table for it to live on, guess I know where I'm going when I need things turned on a lathe!

I do have an A model that could do with some serious restoration. What I don't have is a FRED. Really nice job.

Beautiful lathe. So nicely restored. I have one as well, but my paint isn't anywhere near as nice. Could use some practice on the knurling though.
  • Nice work! I wish I knew a Fred. Did you ever determine whether or not these lathes are compatible with south bends? I see someone asked about that in another video. I recently acquired a 9AR but its missing a bunch of stuff ...well almost everything including the tailstock.
