Looking to sync your roms and saves between multiple devices? Then look no further. In this tutorial I'll show you how to use the free open-source, multiplatform and cloudless file-sharing program, SyncThing, to seamlessly transfer your retro gaming goodness from device to device, so you can easily game on the go!

In this video, we will cover the following:

1) Installing SyncThing on a Windows PC and Anbernic RG552 Android gaming handheld.

2) Setting up folders and sync settings for our saves, savestates and rom collection in Windows.

3) Setting up folders and sync settings for our saves, savestates and rom collection in Android.

Great video! I will try it later, as I want to sync my saves between my desktop, Steam Deck and Retroid Pocket 3+

It's nice today we have options for syncing across platforms, not only limited to specific OS or cloud products from big companies. Thanks to brought this topic to gamers audience, so they are aware of this options.
  • Wow! Works great between my Retroid Pocket 3 and my computer. Wanna get it working with my RetroPi

Great video dude! Absolutely love it!!!!!
  • @seyimsi
And not just retroach but I think this would also work with dolphin, yuzu and citra as well. Thanks for the video man
  • Next video could you do how to setup themes with dynamic backgrounds I see some on YouTube but none for a pc version but man they look amazing
  • Great vid! Not sure whats wrong on my end but my saves/states aren't transferring from my phone that I've been playing on to my PC that I want to play on. Same cores, same roms, everythings up to date, followed the steps perfectly.
  • In the video you used save states could in game saves work as well.

Hi! I have a macbook and was wondering if the process would be similar. Im playing on a lemuroid emulator on android and desmume on my computer.

does this work for the linux-based handhelds that don't have Anroid? like the Anbernic devices that don't have dual-boot to Android? would love a vid on that side of it!

Would this be as accessible as something like the cloud based save syncing that EmuDeck now has built into its platform. Allowing you to choose Dropbox, Google Drive, etc as a storage space that can then be accessed by other EmuDeck devices such as a Windows Desktop etc? Looking for an option that RetroArch, Dolphin, etc can access across Windows and Android that swaps out the most recent version of the save file seamlessly. Or is SyncThing still the best option? Presuming both devices have to be on the same network and turned on to do this.
  • Great video! Do you think this would work between a Steam Deck and Miyoo Mini Plus?

theres just a problem, Im currently on android 13 and it seems like when im at this part 5:17 I cannot access my android/data folder it seems like the file manager syncthing uses is having a trouble on newer android updates causing conflicts on navigating the android data folder
  • Does this go both ways and if so how does that work when a device is turned off. For example if i play on my handheld on the go while my pc is turned off will it be able to sync my handheld save back to my PC when i turn it on again? Or does it only take saves from PC to android

  • @FastClau
