Day In My Life As a Painter & Decorator
Published 2023-02-17
First things first, I moved all the furniture from the room, to give me space to work. To get the windowsills and skirting boards ready for painting, I used sandpaper to sand down any bumps and rough patches. This step is crucial to ensure the new paint adheres smoothly to the walls. Usually we would use a dustless sander.
Next, I applied ames tape to the edges of the walls, ensuring that I got straight and clean lines. Once the tape was in place, it was time to start painting. I chose a white trade contract matt paint and used a roller to apply the paint to the walls. I allowed the first coat to dry before applying a second
coat for a more even finish.
Some door frames required some filing you will see this process and a wee trade secret!
Overall, it was a satisfying day of work as a painter and decorator. I hope you enjoyed following along and learning about the process. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them below!

Arrowworthy best brushes by far
-
nice stuff Reece been at the game 40 years myself sometimes its a battle working for yourself eh but rewarding at the same time

Nice vid mate , i will say pure bristle works far better than synthetics in oil based paint though, Corona do superb pure bristle brushes . Had Arroworthys before and they are decent but i prefer Monarch nowadays for my synthetics. Staalmeesters are brilliant brushes for water based paints on trim as well. Best to use a tack cloth on the cills as well to get remaining dust particles off . Keep up the good work 👍

I studied automotive painting, could you share some tip to get the first job in residential painting? Thanks

Great watch! I’d like some tips if you have any, I’m looking to get in to this trade but being 30 I can’t afford to take an apprenticeship and seemingly there is a lack of viable part time courses for painting and decorating, considering the work force shortage it’s crazy. What’s your advice on getting started?

For emulsion I'm going to use on walls as final coat can I mix 50% of it with 50 of water as a mist coat for new plaster or I have to buy a ready mixed mist coat?

Do you add pva in every bit of filler you make up? Interesting video 👍

If you can piss, you can paint

What arroworthy brush are you using. What's the difference between using a angle brush and a normal brush. What oil based undercoat and satinwood did you use.

I have a friend that got in to painting having no experience otherwise, he tagged along with a pal and now does it full time. What's the chances of me doing the same thing?
