"photography is about skills and not the gear you use" is 100% accurate. I remember a certain time when DSLRs started getting popular so many people around me started buying expensive kits and lenses and calling themselves photographers and yet while technically the images were sharp and had a nice bokeh and colors, the actual image was boring and soulless. meanwhile true photographers and artists have created more intriguing and moving work on a nokia camera phone.

There are many things in life we don’t need. However, there are some material things in life that bring us joy. Thanks, great video ! Rick…. 🇺🇸

Definitely do the developing and scanning yourself. The chemicals and supplies pay for themselves after very few rolls and make shooting film much more economical.
  • @CzejenAndCodaj
It is true ;3 I own m4 but i waste a lot of roll b4 i learn how to shoot :3
  • @n8brophy
you may say that you don't need it, but you sure took some great shots with it :)

Beside photographer skill, the lens and film contributes to the quality of the photograph. So not the camera! In my case I use the Leica M6 antidote, the Nikon F3. Nikon made 100.000.000 lenses in f-mount and so there are excellent affordable lenses available on the second hand market. Beside self using chemicals to develop the film, you can use professional labs for film developing and scanning film. They use often professional legacy scanners to scan the film. I use Carmencita filmlab in Valencia Spain and I like the quality of the work they can provide. Self developing/scannen is cheaper but cost a lot of time.

I want to ask you two questions:1)In all these years you shoot digital do you ever have 72 prints of your photos? 2)Are you afraid to loose your film photos?Do you need double back up or triple back up every four years?

If you don't have access to something like a Nikon Coolscan ED, or Minolta Scan Elite 5400, or even an Epson 7xx/8xx series scanner, use your digital camera to make a digital file of the negative, preferably using a macro lens. The results are far supirior to any lab scan, unless you pay a lot of money for your negs to be scanned by either a Drum Scanner or a Flextight X1.

You need to send your films to Gulabi for Lab treatment and processing.
  • Thanks Niels. Nice pictures but not a professional lab for your next photo journey.
  • @mattisulanto
Thanks for sharing. Amsterdam looks as good as always and you got some decent shots too.
  • leuke serie, met b.v die Summicron heb je wel meer microcontrast dan een cheap Minolta lens b.v. De ontwikkelservice van de Kruidvat was wel slecht :) .
  • This is a very enjoyable video !! Thank you so much. RS. Canada

Thank gawd analog is far and between popular nowadays... only a few weeks ago I threw in the trash my old negative slides that I have had stored away for about 20 years.... I scanned all my photos with my printer scanner and stored the old photos onto my hard drive... so I no longer needed those old negative films... I am glad there is really no such thing as analog photography nowadays.

You cracked me up when I saw the Kruidvat envelope. How can you shoot with a camera like that, load up quality film-rolls but get it developed at Kruidvat. Alsof je een mega dure keuken hebt om vervolgens alleen maar magnetron maaltijden te rammen haha. Wel goede video :)
