Kerosene lantern used by the Toronto Department of Works probably in the 1930s or 1940s. Made by GSW (General Steel Wares) of Toronto Canada. Burning kerosene-based lamp oil made by Recochem.

  • My favourite thing about these Beacon lanterns is the "MADE IN CANADA" mark on the chimney. A remnant of the days when we were a great manufacturing country.

yours should be worth more as it's more rare stamped. I'm still trying to date mine and it seems difficult without serials. unsure if she made lamps before the merger or only after the 1927 merger.

have you seen one with Dominion glass stamp? I hope it's original as I have yet to see one online or in person. which is why I keep this one. I collect insulators so I am a fan of Dominion glass.

I have had a few of these given to me. I want to rebuild them but can’t get the burner out. I don’t think it turns out, it must pull up. But it is rusted, any ideas would be helpful.
