this is the best stage in the entire game because there's no assholes throwing grenades at you

"It is possible to be killed by a grenade landing inside the plane when playing on Veteran."

I love how you’re an unstoppable force in the first segment of the mission. A literal black cat to the Japanese. Then suddenly you end up becoming the mouse when you have to save your own guys in the water while shooting zeroes. Shit was intense and I loved it.

God, hearing the men crying for their lives, begging not to be left behind to an inevitable death, that moves me more than any modern COD could.

This mission proves that you can make any type of mission fun as long as the atmosphere and music is done right.

Great example of a Rail-shooter level done well. Music is terrific, once it kicks in.

There's a dark side to this mission it was found out that in early days of the war that Japanese merchant ships where carrying POWs to the Japanese mainland imagine being one these pilots and you find out that may have just possibly killed your own or allied troops.
  • Ahh the old days, when no matter who you controlled the character didn't say a word lol
  • "What are PBY's doing with that much firepower!?" Said the Japanese sailor.

9:06 you can hear a guy screaming " GET ME OUT OF HERE, I DON'T WANT TO DIE ". So much for Horrors of War. Hearing those screams makes me feel bad for those poor soldiers wanting to be save

Me playing this mission: I GOT TO SAVE DAMN SAILORS, NO I DONT WANT TO SWITCH I WANNA SAVE THE SAILORS
  • @a-h1n286
if only my gunners in war thunder where like these
  • @dontreach23
Can you IMAGINE if this happened IRL. Petty Officer Locke shot down 40 enemy zeros, sank 22 PT boats, rescued 5 men all in the span of 1 night lmao. Some insane stats tbh

7:00 is probably one of the best ways to use music in this game, it builds up as the situation tenses, as death seems more and more inevitable. Then as soon as the dialogue between Booth and Harrington begins it reaches a climax, right until Booth yells Harrington as the plane explodes. The jump from fast paced music to almost silence makes this scene for me.

Everyone is commenting about the inaccuracy of this mission, and I'm just thinking about how fun and intense this mission was.

The pacific ocean is not so pacific after all

Throughout school, specifically history, my teachers rarely talked about WWII or the heroes who fought during the war, or any war for that matter. Most of what I know about the war was from this masterpiece of a game. Thank you Treyarch for making my childhood and teaching me a little bit of history and about the heroism of WWII vets.
