Shohei's favorite game is baseball. He wants to be the best baseball player. And he has no interest in making more money through gambling. Because he earns a lot of money from many sponsors.Dirty-minded people like to think that Shohei was involved in betting, but he remains a pure baseball boy no matter how rich he gets. And he pays far more in taxes than those who want to discredit Shohei.
  • Sports is gambling. Nobody watches for "fun" anymore! That's all you hear at work. 🤷🤷🤷

I'm surprised the Fletcher aspect of this story isn't getting more attention due to the possible ramifications. On the surface one might think this is bad news for the Braves because they could lose one of their players to suspension or getting banned. The thing is this is actually good news for the Braves if it means they can get out of paying Fletcher. He was only acquired in a salary dump so the Braves could get rid of Evan White's terrible contract. The thing is Fletcher's contract is almost as bad. Fletcher stays in the minors as the team does not consider him a valuable enough player to make the MLB roster. However this season the Braves are still stuck paying Fletcher $6M. Including a $1.5M buyout next season the Braves owe Fletcher an additional $8M. So they are stuck paying this guy $14M to spend 2 years in the minors. My guess is they are hoping he gets suspended without pay for the duration of the contract as a result of illegal gambling. If that happens the Braves could have an additional $4-6M to spend on trade deadline additions as well as another $8M to spend on free agent additions this coming offseason. You can get a pretty decent player or pitcher for that kind of money. It's more money than Ozzie Albies makes. If the Fletcher contract ends up getting voided that would mean the Braves were basically able to dump the entire Evan White contract on the Angels for basically nothing. I don't know much about Fletcher but teams must really not like him. Despite paying him such a high salary both the Braves and Angels kept him off the team. Now there's this gambling revelation. I have nothing against Fletcher personally but as a minor league player he is incredibly overpaid. I hope the Braves can find a way to get out of his contract so they can spend that money on someone who will actually help the team.

The reason the Angels are weak is because many of their players gamble!
  • You can bet Ohtani is getting nervous...not baseball is bending over backward to protect him.. and for good reason. Baseball is struggling and he is their golden ticket
  • This is getting deeper and deeper. I feel like Ohtani is involved as well. I just hope he’s sliding his former interpreter like $10 million under the table for taking the fall.
