From his documentary, "This Sceptic Isle", Peter Hitchens demonstrates how Britain was manipulated into the Common Market and how EU membership has been removing our right to self determination.

I recorded this particular edit from BBC Four in 2005 and put it on Youtube a couple of years later. Nice to see it's being redistributed from my channel. Great documentary by the great Peter Hitchens. And thank God for Brexit :)

Can't understand that someone in UK will remain in this corrupt institusion! We in Norway voted no Twice, and we're still 3/4 members in EU whether we like it or not! I think You will remain, but i realy do hope that You will leave, save Europe... Again

This is a documentary film made the latter part of 2005 just after the voters of France and the Netherlands rejected the proposed European Constitution - so we were never asked to vote on it. 12 years on, in early 2018, it is well worth watching and is as relevant to the issue of Europe in the period of negotiating Brexit as it was then, when the idea of leaving the EU was not central to political and public debate. Many thanks to John Daniel for recording the original on videotape and uploading to Youtube.

This video may not have the numbers it 'should' because of its title. 'Peter Hitchens Britain and the EU.' Those who don't like Peter Hitchens will not even look at it. And although I more often 'agree with' what he says than don't agree, I'm pretty sure there are people who simply don't like him and because of that will not look at the truths revealed here.

30:09. " Mrs Thatcher was starting to have serious doubts about the EU. Doubts she confided to close allies." If only she'd admitted that she'd been conned in public, the unions and rotary clubs up and down the country would have rallied behind her. We'd've been out 20 years ago.

The EU is not at all Federal it is Unitary that is the biggest problem.
  • There’s a certain irony that Hitchens now wants a Norway type deal with the EU. I accept that he has been right in his predictions about Brexit(he thought that the referendum result would be leave, aided by old Labour areas like Durham, South Wales, etc. He also said that the establishment would never accept the result). I know he is probably trying to be pragmatic, saying that it was a narrow result(1997 Welsh devolution - don’t remember that being compromised) and that government structures couldn’t cope with independence now, but I still think he is cucking out some what.

Staggering that only 112 likes for this video. Of course I can't be certain of the accuracy of the contents of this video, but even if just 1/2 of it were true, I frankly amazed that politician after politician allowed this to happen to their country. Obviously for them anyway, other factors were far more important than their country. And now look at the state of play. Here we are in 2018 with Brexit negotiations taking place, and politicians seem to have learned nothing from history about how Brussels operates. Rather naively the PM and other pollies hope and pray that the EU will do the decent thing and give the UK a good deal. Popular opinion has it that the EU will stay true to type and never, ever look out for the UK.

Thatcher "we kept half Europe free". So WW2 was a damned waste of ... everything.

Reemain still use the same vague trade arguments, and co flating leave with racism, today. Most UK citizens dont realize we are currently not a sovereign nation, if they did it would be over for EU
  • Soft Brexit is a good trade deal, good for both sides. Hard Brexit is leaving with no deal being better than a bad deal.

What got into this uploader thinking he should include a stupid intro and logo?
