I like your attention to detail on the hoop inlay joints. Great video man
  • Another great video! Looking forward to hearing these bad boys. Thanks!

Great job homey. I do a lot of my own restorations, but I dig learning different methods.

Excellent! Working on a kit myself and the hoop inlay is a nice hack!
  • I use a very thin double sided tape to stick the inlays in I find it works really well....great video !

Don't want to "that guy," but this part is missing from the playlist. It's a great series of videos, and some might be disappointed that it's missing from the playlist.

Nice Shawn.. like the inlay roll-up sanding trick . This is Eddy up the street . Question.. Do they ever seal bearing edges ? Wax ? Anything ?
  • I stole my wife’s bowls for my drum projects, seeing your shelf reminded me.

Hey there, great job on this kit, looks like beautiful work you’re doing. Was wondering if you could be more specific about the type of rattle can used on the hoops? Gloss, semigloss, flat, etc? I have an old Ludwig hoop to refinish myself & whatever you used looks spot on.
  • These videos are so helpful! What grit is on the sanding table you're using? Is that the same one you used for the initial leveling? I want to make one like yours.
  • Just found your vids, wish I'd seen these years ago! Amazing work man! I'm trying to restore an old Ludwig Black Panther kit, (lots of damage to the wraps, the bearing edges, the shells themselves, the hoops, everything!) After watching your vids I need to go back and redo some things, but i have a question: I've noticed that in each of my drums there is a void and then a bump in the ply where the wraps met up with the shell ply, which makes the drums out of round, and the rewrings on the inside also vary in width, so running the shell on a router proved problematic in getting a perfect router edge. (the drum isnt perfectly round due to the ply overwrap. Did you experience this on those shells? and if you did, how did you rectify it? Cheers!

You sanded the kick hoops after painting them right? I am trying to restore a hoop from a high end TAMA kit I got used whose previous owner did not take care of the hoops as well as he should have, causing paint to chip.
