  • It should be illegal for oil company's to advertise these high mileage oil changes.
  • @Kokomo365
The oil from most car engines at 3-5k is usually pretty nasty and dark brown or black. Leaving that crap in to circulate around for another 15-20k miles would be incredibly dumb.
  • @Oetti
Scotty is on fire in this video and visibly pissed. Love it. There is plenty of “facepalm” kind of frustrating things in modern automobiles that are kinda annoying and we laugh at it, but also PLENTY of completely outrageous things that warrant genuine anger. That Toyota twin-turbo V6 is an outrage. The Castrol 25,000mi oil change claim is a TOTAL outrage.
  • For gasoline engines change your oil 5000 miles for N/A engines and 3000 miles for turbo engines. Turbo needs more frequent changes because the oil basically runs through the exhaust manifold to lubricate the bearings and the heat is much harder on the oil.
  • @lotus956
Change your own oil at your intervals and you know what’s being put into it. Fast chains will give you bulk oil and say it’s synthetic.
  • @RacerX888
Toyota tells people to change oil at 16000kms/10000 miles, and if you follow their advice you will end up burning oil and have 1 or 2 piston ring failures by 120-140,000 kms. I change my oil every 8000kms and the dealership guys think I'm crazy, but I have 20 years in the oil refining and high tech lubricant industry and know their recommended maintenance schedule is all marketing and not science based. I even changed my oil after the first 2000kms as standard procedure, because that is the best way to ensure a long engine life. Get the initial oil out of a new car within a couple of months regardless of the mileage and it will save you a lot of money in the future.
  • @ganzonomy
Every 3,000 miles might be excessive, but you will NEVER go wrong
  • @oldcodger4371
I'm 62 years old and never once did I every wear out an auto engine. Back when there was no synthetic oil I changed oil at 3000 miles. When synthetic came out 5000 miles.
  • Don't forget about the coolant the overlooked fluid then probably takes out just as many engines as negligent oil changes
  • @watuzi
    Castrol made Scotty curse 😂
  • @LarsDcCase
I change engine oil and filter every 5,000 miles. 540,000 miles on my 84' Crown Vic, 498,000 miles on my'82 F150, 560,000 miles on my '93 Dodge D250, 340,000 miles on my '96 Crown Vic. None of these engines burn any oil. They all purr like a Tomcat in a creamery. My newer vehicles hardly have over 100,000 miles.
  • I asked our oil expert (X BP guy) in the mid 80's about Renault's new 15 000km oil change interval. He was impressed and added that now we need to invent an oil that lasts 15 000km. 🤪👍🏻🤣 Cape Town South Africa.
  • My dad had a stick shift Pinto when I was a kid way back when, and I learned how to drive it. I'm so glad I did because stick shifts are so much more fun to drive and it makes you a much better skilled driver than those on the road today!😁
  • @Canadarago
Bought a 2021 Tundra new. I didn’t want to be a Guinea pig for the turbo 6 and wanted an engine that was proven. Watching this video I’m again glad I did.
  • @joninpgh
Also the filter will be clogged by 10k and running in bypass mode and not filtering much of your oil.
  • @OnTheAir
Toyota owners with the bad engines should make first oil change at 200 miles and use a magnetic drain plug.. In the old days (1950's and 60's) we always made the first oil change at 500 miles with every new car.
