After my recent video talking about some of The Sims' console ports and their unique single player story modes, some of you pointed out a few others, like The Sims 3's awful Wii port. Well, that got me to twist my ankle in the rabbit hole that is MySims, the (mostly) Nintendo-exclusive Sims spinoff series that started off aping Animal Crossing, and ended with a detective game and aerial combat game. And what's weirdest of all? They're actually pretty good games.

MySims Kingdom is literally one of my favorite games from my childhood. The characters were hilarious and I have very fond memories of jumping from area to area.

MySims Kingdom and MySims agents legit raised me. I still go back and play every few years just for the nostalgia, but they’re also just legitimately enjoyable relaxing games!

I loved MySims as a kid, but never knew there were other games in the series til I got older. I definitely have some to try now!

Thank you for bringing MySims back into the spotlight, MySims Agents is so good and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It is of course a real shame you have to grind out the Dispatch Missions for the true ending (I still have never seen it, but maybe on my next playthrough). I never heard about a MySims Agents 2 being in development but that is a crying shame it got cancelled.

Getting to see someone actually give these games a fair shake after a decade and a half really warms my heart. I kinda hope we can get a video on Sims handheld games at some point so I can find out if any of the DS MySims games were actually good.

As far as MySims stuff being used in modern Sims games, I like that in 4 they come in the form of some collectible trophies and some posters for an in-universe tv show along with some actual officially downloadable Sims based on some of the MySims characters, although a couple of them are a little bit off from their usual characterizations and backgrounds. There ARE some elements that I DO find interesting, although the only one I like is the new connection for Candy and Yuki where they turn them into sisters otherwise some of the character personalities are a bit mixed up. I honestly wish MySims made a proper return in some way, like at least maybe a full MySims expansion story pack or something. Loved MySims Agents (Wii) and it makes me sad that it kind of stops there.

ill never forget my playthrough of mysims agents. it was one of this first games i actually finished as a kid and i can still remember some of the puzzles and areas- especially the snow one. thank u for bringing these memories back!
  • Before I watch this full thing, I loved "MySims: Secret Agents" and sky heroes so much. Hoping for nothing but good things being said about them
  • Love the video so far, but it would be AWESOME if you cover the ds games some day. Those were my childhood
  • Ah yes, the classic MySims games with the classic MySims character Goth Boy. I hold these games in such a high nostalgic regard it's insane.

Mysims kingdom holds such a special place in my heart because it was the only game I owned that offered a lot of different language options, and thus it helped a LOT in my learning of Polish when I was a child :)

I would say the My Sims's handheld version are wildly different from their Console counterparts, to the point that the odd boardgame-esc overworld in the Wii version is outright replaced with the exact system you described, where you instead drive around on ground level and interact with folks there. I would be highly interested in another video that covers the handheld versions, I've enjoyed this video immensely and would love to see you cover the handheld versions of the game!

I snapped awake from sleeping to this when you started talking about my sim agents. That game has owned Ocean Front property in my frontal lobe rent free for YEARS. about to word vomit how much i love it- but first mentioning quickly, your scripts are so well constructed and your editing is absolutely lovely. Ive been binging through your stuff and every video is a treat. Ok now to the brain rot I have the most vivid memories of the intricate evolution of the storyline. The murder mystery level and snowy mountain areas, hell the one with candy? The urban city area one? God I replayed it several times. The furniture mechanics for the spy base later on had me relapsing to the hundreds of hours i put into the first my sims I loved the yeti. I loved the pipe puzzles. RAHHH MY SIMS AGENTS MY BELOVED
  • MySims Agents is AMAZING. The most nostalgic Sims game after The Sims 2 Pets for PS2, to me. I'd play it so much during summer holidays, it was such a fun experience

Seeing the town in Agents brought back some old memories, I remember after finishing the game just going back through all the levels and taking it all in. Appreciating all the characters and areas, and the stories it told. So many little details that made the world feel lived in too, in a sense, like the trains driving by far off in the background that I hadn't even noticed before. It wasn't until I was in college I'd thought about those MySims games, and wondered what ever happened to that series. I was so upset when I found out they cancelled the Agents sequel, remembering how much I really wanted to re-experience the first one. Nowadays it's just frustrating, seeing how much utter trash gets to keep going and thrive when for over 20 years we've seen great ones get left behind and forgotten.
