I met Bas while he was commentating a PFL fight in 2018. He was so nice and humble and took a picture with me. A super nice guy and a great CHAMPION!!!
  • The fact that Japanese fighter got up after the first shot is unreal. The pain he fought through is insane.

I have seen most of these fights but did not realize how brutal they are. The toughness of these guys is superhuman.

If anyone doesnt know, Bas has his ENTIRE Pancrase career on Youtube for FREE with his commentary on every single fight. One of my favorite things on Youtube, and it really highlights how high level and unique Pancrase actually was. Also, Bas is hilarious, and him commentating his own fights (especially the losses) is nothing short of straight comedy

So much impressed with Bas and these Pancrase fighters! Some of the scariest fighters yet they never forget to respect each other. Respect! Kudos!

I'm 79 years old and Bas Rutten is the best of the best. I use to get so excited at times I thought I was going to have an heart-attack. :hand-pink-waving::hand-pink-waving:

Bas just has that bad ass look to him. Not taking anything away from his fighting skills, cause Bas IS a bad ass. Always one of my favorites. His striking was vicious. Anyone going toe to toe with him I'm sure was regretting that decision after taking the first open palm strike. Thanks for putting this clip together . Bas deserves all the notoriety given. One of the greatest of all time for sure.

Bas Rutten is an absolute legend. One of the best fighters ever. One of the most elite strikers in MMA history. One of my favorite fighters of all time.

This is so great!!! Thanks for posting it!!! When I first started watching UFC it wasn’t on television we had to rent tapes. When UFC and PRIDE started being shown on television regularly Bas was already doing mainly commentary and I always wanted to see him fight. A couple of years ago I found a compilation much like this but a lot of the footage was really grainy and old. This is just done so well and definitely shows him for the brutal fighter that I heard so much about.

I don't get how a fighter with so many miles like Rutten can now, after his career being over, be so normal. He speaks really well with no signs of head concussion and is smart when talking to anyone. Rutten is certainly a legend in so many ways.
  • Bas, was and is still one of the greatest lethal fighters ever ! He was far ahead of his time . I take my hat off to Bas, I was a Taekwondo champion, and was headed in his footsteps, until Multiple Sclerosis ended my career .
