If Yao was healthy for his career he would be one of the best center ever. He has soft touch, can shoot, hook shot, everything and could D up. Fade-away? No problem
  • Yao isn't just one of the tallest players in the league he was actually good

You can tell shaq is thinking ‘’what the hell is going on?’’

Shaq said only 3 true centers matched his dominance during his career. Hakeem O., Patrick E., and Yao. Thats how good he was. If God had only made him sturdier there is no telling the damage he could've done

Bro I know Shaq was mad af in the beginning of the game😭

During his HOF speech Yao joked that everytime he played Shaq it reminds him of the saying: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." One of the few bigs that a prime Shaq had to truly compete with. Lots of respect between the two when all is said and done. But I wish Yao's career would've lasted longer without those nagging injuries.

A friend of mine was on the Houston coaching staff at this time. His job was to "work out Yao." He said he was a really fun guy to work with. One story he told me is he was working on his low post move shooting off the backboard. My friend told him to put a little "English" on the ball to spin it off the backboard. Yao commented that he needed to put some "Chinese" on it...lol.

Yao could’ve been a top 10 center had he not been injured most of his career

The first 30 seconds of this iconic meeting is really the entire premise of Yao’s career. A big man with good feet who always played well defensively and had a soft touch with the ball.

Could you imagine watching the first 3 minutes of this game live? It must've been mind blowing

What’s crazy is Steve Francis had 44pts, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds

Commentator: NOBODY Yao Ming’s size has ever been a real basketball player. Shawn Bradley: 😢

I was present at this game three rows up from the court. Flew in from LA to watch. It was electric at the beginning of the game. Shaq had his moments but so did Yao. Lots of back and forth.

I remember watching this live like yesterday... Being from Houston the Yao hype was real... We thought him and T-Mac was bringing at least 1 to the city if not for the injuries... Great trip down memory lane

Seeing this as a 13 yr old boy, Shaquille being my all time FAVORITE basketball player--this was magical. Seeing the king of kings, the most DOMINANT force in sports history actually being challenged by a younger, TALLER lion ... What made it great was that Yao was very skilled, a GREAT player who did not back down in his own right

Yao was special, guy was a rookie here going against one of the most dominant centers in nba history, i wish he wasn't injured so much.
