  • IMO: Graphics: Obviously Spider-Man 2. Though TBH, neither game looks absolutely spectacular. Spider-Man 2’s model designs are hideous (besides some designs like Venom and Norman Osborn for example) and I feel like would’ve looked more visually appealing had there maybe been more consistent clean colourful lighting (like InFamous: Second Son) which enhances the atmosphere or just a unique animation style like Ultimate Spider-Man. Web swinging: Definitely Web of Shadows. Fall damage: Spider-Man 2 LOL, I dunno know but seeing the ragdoll just go flying after falling is hysterical, better than WoS just face planting. Symbiote combat: Web of Shadows, and it’s really no contest if we’re being honest. Wall combat: Not fair since Spider-Man 2 doesn’t even feature wall combat. Stopping cars: Web of Shadows TBH. Being able to pick up and throw cars is something I didn’t know I needed to do. If Insomniac didn’t remove legit EVERY CAR STOPPING ANIMATION (that was just retarded) and not only include a single goddamn one, maybe it would’ve been more enjoyable. Red suit combat: Web of Shadows, and it’s really no contest if we’re being honest. QTE: TBH I think it could easily go either way, but I prefer Web of Shadows ultimately. Considering the fact you use it for cool as spectacle like fighting a symbiote-enhanced Wolverine, Vulture high in the clouds, and a Building-Sized massive Venom feels more climatic to me. Wall running: Eh, could go either way. I kinda prefer SM2 tho seeing how you move faster and it ties seamlessly with web swinging or perching. It’s kinda weird in the fact he runs WAY faster up walls than on the ground.

    Spider-Man: Web of Shadows really captures the thrilling experience of wearing the black suit. It makes you feel super powerful and destructive, and sometimes, you even feel guilty in some situations.

    WoS 's creativity in combat (wall combat and different movesets for each suit) is still unmatched even after all these years. Insomniac's spiderman is still behind in that aspect imo.

    What's crazy is WOS had a time limit of 2 years. If they had a few more months or another year it would defo be the goated spidey game.

    What WoS is still much better about is the suit change in mid-action and the fact that the different suits have their own movesets or each have their own movement style when swinging and fighting

    There is still a lot to come back to WOS for. The black suit combat is friggin cool. And I think to this day no other spiderman game has done wall combat like this game did.

    funfact: web of shadows is the very first game to ever introduce the webstrike mechanic. Games moving forward have yet to make it look as good as what web of shadows brought to the table, insomniac has potential but i really hope they experiment with that with their miles and silk duo game

    In terms of Badassery and GOAT, I still prefer Web of Shadows. Strongest Video Game Spider-Man ever followed by Shattered Dimensions Spidey and then Insomniac Spidey

    Something about the WOS I like more,part of it was that the comic element of the game was there, it was not taking it self too serious. 2. The wall fights were awesome. 3. It felt darker too me.

    I love the fact that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is kinda remake of Web of Shadows with the symbiote invasion on how all the buildings are covered on symbiote

    OG Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Web of Shadows, they’re all part of what inspired Insomniac’s Spider-Man to be great, and now Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is a love letter to Web of Shadows specifically. Definitely deserved more attention when it was released.

    Web of Shadows was way ahead of it's time. It's honestly a shame despite all the backing from Sony. the symbiote Spidey in Spider-Man 2 is nowhere near the Web of Shadows level! Web of Shadows even had awesome wall combat moves and the number of symbiote attacks was crazy. Above everything it's actually a bigger shame how short lived the symbiote plot and coverage is in Spider-Man 2, compare that to Web of Shadows which took it's time to gradually build up the symbiote epidemic gradually over the course of story.

    I’m hella impressed and shocked by web of shadows this games was way ahead of its time and honestly the gameplay looks more badass than Spiderman 2. Not as fluid or graphically on par but definitely more brutal.

    it's pretty unfair seeing that we're comparing graphics here, at least for me of course, I love MSM 2, but WoS has a place at my heart, this game is way ahead of it's time, the agressive web swing is amazing, and the combat, not gonna even talk about, but the thing that I love in WoS is the in battle suit change, it just unlocks a whole new possibility of combat, I love that game and I wish more people knew about it

    My first impression of this comparison is that there's something that feels so 'safe' about the newest iteration of the symbiote's combat. In WoS you can see in the animation, through *body movement*, that Spidey isn't pulling any punches while using it, the button symbiote web attack makes you choke enemies; the RB+X special attack has him beat the hell out of enemies (which you can prolong if you smash the X button), his web strike + X has him grind the enemies into ground, etc, etc. It's rule of cool and violent, and makes you feel powerful, while in the newer game they're just tendril attacks that feel too abstract to feel any sort of power behind them. They feel so edgeless in comparison thanks to that.
