Tuam, a name that traumatised the whole of Ireland in the spring of 2014, when an unimaginable story was revealed. A hidden mass grave containing the remains of some 800 children was discovered on the former grounds of a home for single mothers, a hell on earth where children died from ill treatment, and were shamefully buried in secret and forgotten.

How many of these young women were attacked and then shamed into this nightmare? Yet again the men getting away with it. Total double standards.

Never before has one organisation spread so much pain and grief for so many centuries.

The treatment of women breaks my heart. How many of these women have these children with no consent of their own, if you know what I mean. And yet the men continue on with their favored stature of honorable men and the women shamed. It’s disgraceful. And these nuns should be named even if they are no longer alive.

Shame, shame shame. No one would help these women. Not their family, not their neighbors, not the government. The only place available to them was this evil church. Victoms of an ignorant, brutal , merciless people. The shame is not on the mothers or children it is on Ireland and the church both of whom get off scot free

Imagine taking the time to write a report stating that a child in your orphanage was both emaciated AND had a voracious appetite instead of just feeding the child more! Neglect. Cruel neglect.

I am someone who was placed with the Convent of the Good Shepherd for 8 months at the age of 15yrs old. I am now 66yrs old but those experiences still live with me.

The inversion of the teachings of the church.. Took our ancestral knowledge, our way of living and oppressed and brutalised us..Little kindness from them.. Cruel judgement from cruel people hiding behind a habit 🙏

I lived in a convent from age 8 - 11 yrs. Some of the nuns were violent. I remember seeing a boy in the freezing cold with short trousers being thrashed on the thighs with a cane just out of the blue. Another one we had to watch being leathered by a heavy strap on his back for running away. They taught us about Mary, the saints, the rosary, communion but hardly nothing about Christ and certainly no scripture. I was given a scapula and was told if I wore it all my life I would go to heaven. I didn't know Jesus then. It was just religion religion relgion and superstition. Fortunately I came to Christ at aged 27 yrs and I was saved from the fear of Catholicism. Jesus is wonderful and has healed me from my childhood. I thank God for my life now and know that I belong to Him.

I cant imagine if my baby was torn from my arms. My baby was born out of wedlock. So many beautiful babies abused and hurt for existing.

What's the bet the reason they don't want to excavate is because a lot more than 795 children are buried there?
