I think the lesson here is if you’re really trying to save money sometimes leaving things stock is better than replacing it with cheap garbage.

Props to the hard working Cameraman hiding behind James: 4:07

I’m disappointed that Nolan didn’t get a footprint gas pedal
  • I can feel Nolan's pain with the head unit. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to this
  • haha 4:08 you don't have to hide from us cameraman. We appreciate what you do!
  • @nchia
I just LOVE the hands adjusting the camera inside the car while they’re driving! 😂
  • @triplebasic
Would love to see Nolan as Hi-Team captain on the next one !

Nolan deserves an extra $500 on a challenge next season because he was shorted as hell on this one.

Reminder to everyone who mods: the OEM parts on your car are of a certain quality, and unless buying high quality aftermarket parts, modding your car is just replacing high quality with garbage. There’s definitely a time and place and pricepoint for modding. On my Miata, I bought a “Momo Italia” $10 shift knob (well, it’s actually a 4-5” long cylinder shape?). It attached firmly but after a few days, I was just not digging the feel. I then bought a $99 Voodoo shift knob which I had on my other Miatas. So much better. On the WRX, the steering wheel is fine. A cheap aftermarket one is dangerous. Remember Donut’s “real or fake” episode where they destroyed a fake wheel in seconds? Wouldnt want that on the track. Same for crap shift knob and plastic pedals. Low car could have “dumpster dived” for high car’s Cobb shift knob for free. That said, disappointed low car didn’t go with those crappy “bare feet” pedals as seen on 1970’s vans and whatnot. Would have at least been worth the amusement.

I am absolutely in love with the way this episode has been filmed. it feels like youre mixing hi lo with money pit. its sick
  • NOLAN FOR HI CAR!!! i think a budget-swap could be really interesting for next season
  • @mcdamn_it
It's pretty goofy seeing the cameraman hiding so hard in the backseat. Just let the dude sit up! 🤣

I almost got one of those NRG knobs, so glad my suspicions were proven correct and I didn't get it. My stock shift knob was so heavily worn from the previous owner, and the size of it didn't quite fit my hand. With having to replace the transmission due to wear, and with every aftermarket shift knob available for cheap being garbage, I ended up discovering that a Civic EG has the same thread pitch for its shift knob as my Xterra, only the knob itself is smaller. Got one from the local junkyard for a fiver and it's been a perfectly snug fit since. It even looks like it should be stock. Thanks for doing this episode. I'm shocked at half of the car stuff I see getting sold these days, so it's nice having real-world use reviews for the good and the bad.

I would like to see next season of high/low with the roles switched
  • @tqlla
The five minute limit, and $500 limit for 5 unknown parts is too much of a disadvantage for low car. If you are on a budget, you have to research the parts to get a good value.
  • @driftfits
The poor lad who had to hide in the back of the car haha
