The album was inspired by Beyonce's late gay uncle who the album was dedicated to. He introduced her to Disco, Dance, House (created by Black DJ's on Chicago's Southside which birthed EDM/Dance, etc.) Her inspirations were Donna Summer/Disco, House, the Black gay ballroom scene ( of which she celebrated 12 icons) and more. She's regularly reinventing.

I love that y’all are listening to Renaissance… however, I feel y’all are not getting the whole experience of this album because there are SO many transitions from one song to the next that it’s insane and elevates this album a lot more. Like, in these three songs y’all reacted to, all these songs transition into each other and it’s honestly insane how cohesive they all sound, even though all three songs differ in genres (disco, afrobeats, and house respectively)
